"Jamie Mackie will miss the start of QPR's Premier League campaign after a setback in his recovery from a double leg break. The striker has been side-lined since sustaining the horrific injury in January. Mackie 25, has spent seven months fighting for fitness and had hoped to return to competitive action in Rangers' top-flight opener at home to Bolton on August 13th. But his comeback was delayed when scans last week revealed his bone needed more time to heal. Rangers say they hope the Scotland international will still be able to return "early in the campaign". Head physio Nigel Cox said: "It means Jamie's target will have to be adjusted but the good thing is, he is a naturally fit lad and very strong". ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'd like to wish Jamie all the best. This sounds very disappointing to me. Could possibly take him quite a while to regain proper fitness. Was looking forward to seeing all his enthusiasm back on the pitch!!
