    QPR forward justifies selection

JAMIE Mackie insists he has proved he's good enough to be in QPR's 25-man Premier League squad.

The former Plymouth Argyle forward was a surprise inclusion in the list earlier this season while he was still on the sidelines recovering from a double leg break.

However, the Scotland international has forced his way into the Rangers first-team after returning to full fitness.

Boss Neil Warnock plans to add as many as SIX new signings in January, but Mackie is confident of making the cut when the new squad list is submitted in the new year.

He said: “I would like to think I've justified my inclusion now. I spoke to the manager at the time and told him I was thankful for putting me in, but he knows what he's going to get from me.

“I'm not going to let him down and I think my performances in the past few weeks have shown people I can cope with playing in this league.

“It's up to the manager if he wants to put me in the 25. He put me in there last time so I see no reason why not. I love playing for this football club and if he doesn't put me in I'll address it then.

“I want to play every game - I'm not just happy being here making up the numbers. I've worked really hard to get to this level and feel I deserve the chance to show people I can play in the Premier League.”

I suppose the obvious response to this article is that it depends who we buy. IMO he will soon become a fringe player. Unfortunately i can't see him being part of our squad after next summer.

I would be very dissapointed if he was dropped from the squad next year as he is such a hard worker for the team, he don't complain or moan he gets his head down and works hard no matter where he is asked to play.

The problem is that there are loads of players out there who can run all day, but if we are going to progress as a club, then we need more players with quality. I agree that every team needs a couple of workhorses i.e. a kuyt type player but unfortunately our midfield at the moment is full of effort and no flair or creativity. And that my friend is the main reason why we cant score enough goals to finish teams off and win matches. We are simply not creating enough. How many goals have our combined midfield scored this year after 15 games (yes, 15 games), the answer is NIL. I like Mackie, he tries, but he seems very limited and in the Prem trying hard is not enough, and will not keep us up.

I expect he will stay with us until the summer and then he will be moved on for somebody with more quality.

Nuts! I rather agree with you, but I hope he (and SWP) will score a few December and keep his place in the 25 - hope he does! But Joey, Ali and Smith have all scored, 1 each from midfield this season - though not enough I agree.

I have a feeling that NW will want Clint Hill and Shaun Derry coaching the youngsters at some stage. Both have worked hard with the ability they have, and if some ways are better players than you realise - especially when it is noticeable how the team performs when they are not playing especially last season.
