It's a very tough one. Harper has helped us to the final, but should we risk a potential FA cup win by leaving out our best keeper?
If McG is fit, he should play. That's how the whole No 1 and No 2 thing works. If you want to bring sentiment in, you risk saying "lets just let everyone play and bollocks to the score" then use every sub you can plus give a game to all peripheral journeymen players you have at the club just so people get to play at Wembley. The best way to thank the Harpers of the team is to go all out to win it, and to do that, you use your best available team.
agree with this. If McG is fit (and hopefully has some match practice) he should play. Harper's not exactly covered himself in glory the last couple of weeks. His reactions are slow.
If he's fit, he should play (McGregor). I like Harper but you play your best available 11. Harper had a tendency to send a lot of his goal kicks into the stands and doesn't even attempt some saves.
McGregor should play if fit, harsh on Harper, but against Arsenal he just didn't fill me with confidence.
Love Harper and think he has been an excellent signing. But at the end of the day it's a no brainer (as the trendy young things are so fond of saying). FA Cup final: You play your best available 11.
Harpers been magnificent until just the last game or two. In recent weeks he's looked like David stockdale, every shot on target seems to end up in the net.
Harper is a very experienced keeper but he has nowhere near McGregors athleticism and shot stopping ability. He's definitely not the man to have in there on a penalty shoot out. In fact if he starts in the final I'd replace him with McGregor if it goes into penalty kicks....assuming Greegs is ready and willing.
Hate to say it, but I agree with all the ones saying if McG is fit then he should play. To win, it has to be the best 11, SB knows this, he started off against Middlesborough & Southend with the "2nd string" in all reality, only v Brighton were Hudds & Davies included.
