Macclesfield Town have signed non-league striker Ben Tomlinson. The young forward's price has not been disclosed, but is reported to be a five-figure fee. The 21-year-old came through the ranks at Rotherham United, but has been playing for Worksop Town, of the Evo Stick Premier League, since the aged of 17. He was the non-league outfit's top scorer in the 2009/10 season with 13 goals, and bagged 29 goals last season. The club's website indicates that the new signing is a direct replacement for Tyrone Barnett, who left to join Crawley Town earlier today.
