YES. Agreed he hasn't been on his best form lately but still delivers some killer passes and is good at breaking the play up. I get the feeling that the pressure is getting to all the players but that win yesterday will install some much needed belief and confidence.
He's been fairly poor for the last couple of months, weather it's just a loss of form or he's starting to feel the effects of a tougher league I don't know but dropping him to the bench for a game or two might bring about an improvement so he can have a greater impact for the last couple of games. It's a shame because he's the best passer of the ball that we've got and the alternatives aren't great but er know Larson can do a steady job and will graft away if given the chance.
Maybe the amount of games and the pace of the premier league is catching up with him. Before Xmas I thought he was heading for player of the year but at Easter he admitted he was starting to feel it. I hope we keep him and he gets used to the games and pace and with a decent pre season behind him, Kirchoff and one other whether that be Catts or another will make a bloody good midfield imo.
I think some people always need to blame one of the players for our predicament, rather than look at the situation, as a whole. First we had enemy number one of Van Aanholt, who was overtaken by Cattermole. Then we had the stupid comments last week that Kaboul might not be up to it: for Christ's sake Kaboul was marking, probably, the fastest, most prolific goalscorer in the league. Now we have Yann M'Vila as enemy number one. In all of this, I'm not saying that we have the best players but, come on, compared to some of the dross we've bought in the last 2-3 seasons, they look like world beaters. I think people need to accept that our squad, although not the best, is the much better than the one we've over the last 4 years. If we go down, it won't be because any individual player's current form; it will all be down to the running of the club for the 4 year period I mentioned. In all of this, I think it will be a real shame if we go down. Big Sam is, putting in place, the building blocks of a half decent squad. Probably not one that will be able to challenge for Europe but one that will be able to survive, quite comfortably, over the next couple of seasons.
But he"s not is he? No one has said he's crap or anything remotely similar, are you denying that his form hasnt dipped lately/ Maybe he could do with a break, no one is undropable for a while.
Not saying he's undroppable. But just think his performances have not been as bad as a lot of people have said. I just think he's one of those players who does the ugly stuff, which nobody is going to notice very much. Also, I think there's a tendency, these days, to only allow a player a few ordinary(which is probably how I'd describe M'Vila) performances before shouting for them to be replaced. I just think that, in our team, the lack of form/performances is more pronounced, as we're in a relegation scrap. However, I don't think the answer is to drop the player. As I said above, Van Aanholt, Cattermole & Kabul have put in decent performances, of late. In our predicament, chopping and changing is not the answer. Not to mention what it does to the players confidence if he has to return to the team.
Doesn't seem to have harmed, Catts, Borini or Defoe. We all know M"Vila is a classy player on his day, but its crunch time and his form has dipped. So we carry on and hope he discovers it again in the few remaining games?
Spot on mate and as i said on another post, we need stab slitty and i reckon Sam is the man to give us that. Expect a massive clear out in the summer regardless of what division we are in and then we can begin to stabilise the club and move forward. I'm not expecting massive leaps, more like baby steps but in the right direction.
I think Borini and Catts were injured, first, and had to fight their way back in the team. I don't like your promotion of violence. And I'd like to get to know this Slitty
Not so sure about that mate, Catts was ****e last week, as was Borini and Defoe. I just put it all down to the pressures of relegation and nerves.
Dont think theres any right or wrong answers in this one..SA persisted with that plank Rodwell for long enough, and some people on here said "theres a player in there," **** knows where it is like.
