    Thoughts?

Personally I'd love for us to make a bid for him, I know a few users on this board have also wanted us to sign him. Would be good business for around £10m

I'm not sure if he's what we're looking for. I don't say this because I don't rate him, but because I think we'd have made a bid for him already if we were interested, like we did with Clichy. He may well be on our list of targets, but probably 2 or 3 down it.

Or maybe KK is waiting to decide on the future of Insua and Aurelio?

Or waiting for a few more players to leave?

Lyon seem to want Cissokho out. That is a wierd statement to make if Lyon want Cissokho to stay.

Do it Kenny. £10M. No mucking about. I'd be happy with our transfer incomings if Cissokho came in. We can then concentrate on getting the deadwood out of the club.

Agreed, £10m is a good deal and if we can sign him now, he can gel with the lads whilst we work on getting the other players out.

Edit - In other news Valencia's head coach has admitted Mata could leave, despite the winger saying he is happy at the club.

They also seem to want Mata out for the money

Maybe so. It's just that the fact we actually bid for Clichy means we were definitely in the market for a new player there, and we didn't then go straight in for Cissokho (who is available and doesn't have the copa america or anything to delay the deal) after the move for Clichy had failed . Although it may be a situation that is to be revisited, as you say, once a few have been cleared out.

I hope it is. The bid for Clichy proves KK believes that area needs strengthening and for that reason we should continue our pursuit for Cissokho

The interest is obviously there so why no bid? My first suspicion is another deal for a preferred option is still uncertain so DC and KK are keeping the Cissokho deal alive, just in case.

I agree, as we've seen - if we're interested then we'll stick in a bid no matter how small.

Oddly enough the only English Left back that's any good and isn't over the age of 30 is Baines...

I reckon Kenny wants a few players off the wage bill first before he makes any more signings.Apparently Dani Pacheco could be one of the first to go...albeit on loan to Rayo Vallocano.Danny Ayala is another that is attracting interest with Wolves keen either to take him on loan or sign him permanently.Add Jovanovic to this whom is on the verge of a move back to Belgium with Anderlecht, and Liverpool having sold both Konchesky and Mavinga. If we can add possibly one or two more..then that may free up the space for possibly one more signing.Kenny hasn't ruled out signings.

Makes sense to get rid of the deadwood(especially high earning ones) that would allow the youth players to get a look in on the squad. If its reported as 10 mil for the guy i find it strange no other clubs have been linked so heavily with him(im aware we are actively looking a new LB).

    i think the whole thing is interesting and raises questions;

    1. would a club like this one simply put this out on the basis of press talk alone?

    2. what contact have we had with them? enquiry, scouts last year? what?

    3. are they really this desperate?

    4. what was the context of the questions? did a press hack ask this guy about the player and liverpool and basically fish for this?

This is the important point. We are only fed what journos want us to have and they're always looking to make the biggest story they can out of what they've got. Something taken out of context can have an entirely different emphasis to the intended one.

    thats what i was thinking.

until i see on the lfc website that a fee has been agreed with a club I'll ignore this sort of stuff in the main.....

the other element is if another club publishes a bid we make and they reject, that will be interesting and a real trend developing

It seems where being linked with Marcell Jansen as well at the minute, i've seen Jansen play more than Cissokho to be honest and he looked decent enough playing for germany and Hamburg but whats the general consensus who do people reckon would be the better option should either deal happen?

There are question marks over Cissokho's attitude and he's never been at a club for more than two years so not sure if we could take a punt on him, he's obviously talented though. Jansen sounds like a good bet as he can play on the left wing too and even up front if we are short. I like his versatility. I have never been convinced about Enrique. Alvaro Pereira is another option as stated today but I haven't seen enough of him to make a comment.

Would he still be better than what we've got at the moment though?

Yup, but at what cost? Would we be better going elsewhere?

    Reported 'values' are:

    Pereira: 18m (buy out clause)
    Jansen: 8-10m
    Cissokho: 10m
