Yep. As long as we win, then local rivalries can take a back seat. That win will keep us 7th regardless, but a win tonight for the Wurzles and a win for Rotherham tomorrow, will make our season come alive again. Single use Bristol City and Rotherham scarves for sale!
Will happily settle for a City win, however it comes (yep, even some Jack like luck to take the points would be welcome) but can't bring myself to wish Mrs Brizzles Wurzle brigade win... will settle for a frustrating 0-0 for them with 0 shots on target just to really cheer them up.
If we do somehow pick up another 3 points it'll be one heck of a turnaround under big Mick the Messiah. Even a draw will still represent a decent points tally from his games.
I sympathise Brizzle and I appreciate it's easy for me to seek a wurzle win from my rather more detached position. How about they win tonight and keep Reading on our radar then, just for your sanity, they lose on Saturday?
It certainly would but I think he's hungry for more and will want to use the momentum. I'm not suggesting that tonight will be easy and the Hatters will be looking for revenge, but I still fancy our chances with MM getting so much more out of the group.
Well whatd'ya know. Before the season started, put £40 @ 9/4 on City to finish top 6 - it seemed like a good idea at the time. Since then and right up until Mick arrived, I'd forgotten about it and my stake had dissappeared down the "no cash out available" hole. Hadn't bothered but just looked now and they're offering me a £20 cash out against a potential payback of £130 - what do you reckon?
At the same time pre-season also put 30 quid on City getting promotion by any route @ 5/1 to return £180 - they're also offering me £7 cash out on that. Now assuming we get into the top 6.................
Suppose I could settle for that. The win may just give them hope, only to see it dashed again..... Bit of an evil genius on the quiet there aren't you Clingo? And Sparky, definitely hang on in there. Psychologically it's lost already..... treat it like an odd sock.... it'll just turn up and make your day when least expect it and have forgotten about it!
Onto the game. We likely to be unchanged again do we think? I would (if fit) be tempted to bring Ralls in for Pack. In saying that, it sounded like Pack was decent enough on Saturday? Think I'd rather have the extra legs in there though v Luton. Suspect Murphy has done enough to retain his spot, even if Ojo is in contention again.
I'm more concerned about Morrison and Moore. I don't think Morro was fully over his previous injury and took another knock on Saturday. Never the quickest, often his physical strength has got him through games. He looked physically worn out by the end if the game and our defence became weaker as the game went on. Other than shuffling Flint and Nelson across and bringing in Brown we don't have another option except reverting to a back 4 and putting an extra man in midfield. That limits the full backs' ability to get forward. Moore was also shattered for the last 15 hence we could not hold the ball upfront which increased pressure on the defence. Watters should have come on for the last 10 at least to chase and close down their defenders and midfield. Team selection could be interesting tonight.
Tomlin back today for under 23's - played 45 minutes first half - this is how he feels about it.......................
Totally agree - Flint and Nelson looked in decent shape at the end of that Cov game, but Morro was shattered. Also wondering just what Watters has to do to get on the pitch - does Keiffer needs another serious injury through being knackered?
Looks like Colwill, Davies, Sang, Bagan and Harris with the senior squad again. Smithies must be back, on the bench at least, with Ratcliffe playing this afternoon.
