Nathan Jones has got the right hump with us. Apparently we booed off the lad that broke his leg.

Nathan Jones you've not been gone long enough.

Excellent match to watch, and a good sound performance by Pompey. Lovely headed goal by Christian Burgess. Shame Gary Roberts fluffed the penalty - he really is "out of salts" at the moment and to my mind needs a proper rest (3 or 4 weeks) from the game.

Shame Luton's inexperienced manager couldn't manage to keep his big mouth shut ! Pity their player Cameron McGeehan broke his leg (just a collision with Michael Doyle , with no free kick awarded either way), but some minutes earlier he went down in a challenge with another Pompey player, and got up and ran to the referee insinuating he had been elbowed ! Strangely enough the challenge was directly in front of where I was sitting and I can categorically confirm that no elbow was used on him !!

The reason why he was booed by Pompey fans was his petulance and non stop whinging whilst they were trying to get him onto the stretcher, which was the reason why he was booked by the referee. He was cheered when stretchered off the pitch, but Pompey fans had no idea at the time of the nature of his injury.

On to Thursday's match at Doncaster.....

Re. the Cameron McGeehan incident, these are some of the comments on the News site:-

"Can only agree with Mr Jones and while it remains indefensible the catalyst was the rather foolish action on the part of the player to remove himself from the stretcher that he had been carefully lifted on to by those trying to treat him. Supporters were then starting to suspect that he had been wasting time and after all that had gone on he (the player) had decided that he wanted to continue playing. As it happened this wasn't the case and I wish him a speedy recovery as he does look a good young player."

"Nor would I take it out on the professionals doing their job to help. I don't care what day your having or how annoyed you might be, you don't disrespect those helping you, and especially not spit at medical staff if rumours are to be believed."

"From seeing Cameron's behaviour towards the staff treating him, I'd say he got a fair response back from the fans. Kicking off and stropping like a child, wriggling off the stretcher when it's clear the team doctors have decided to take you off, that's not too a classy move in itself. Not one fan would wish a serious injury on someone, but don't expect a cheery wave goodbye if you act like a child."

"Shut up Jones you freak. So many players cheat and dive that it's a rare occurrence that there's ever a real injury. No one wants to see a player break a leg and hope he recovers quickly, but the booing is symptomatic of widespread players cheating and diving that goes on at every level of the game. If Jones wants to have a pop at us then it just shows what a tw@t he is, he's done absolutely nothing in his career and he'd be better off just shutting up. Looking at his lack of height I think he must suffer small man syndrome."

"Your young superstar brought the reaction upon himself. Firstly by trying to climb off the stretcher then hurling verbal abuse at the Portsmouth players. If I were you I would be more concerned about the professionalism of your physio who appeared to have half his kit missing that he had to rely on our physio bringing on the necessary equipment".

"I think Jones is looking for a fight that wasn't there imho. Yes our fans were booing the player but not because he was seriously injured but because of his actions and reactions to the help he was receiving. The kid was frustrated and to all intents and purposes it appeared to be a time wasting tactic as he shuffled about and even attempted to play on at one point. Had it been known his leg/ankle was broken I believe the fans would've reacted differently."

"Firstly I'm sure every Pompey fan will wish the kid a speedy recovery, no one likes to see people suffer bad injuries. Secondly Mr Jones at least you could hear our fans, as none of us could hear yours on your big day out. Thirdly Pompey (Forde) threw the ball out so he could get treatment. He then punched the ground and mouthed off at the ref (even though it was him who put a bad challenge in on Doyle). The Pompey fans chanted "that was embarrassing" which was a bit of banter, to which McGeehan spat and mouthed off at the fans, followed by his antics towards the medical staff - so its unsurprising he got the reaction he asked for. If you ask me I think it's sour grapes for Luton as theyve lost out to a big promotion challenger."

"Player makes bad challenge, expects to get the decision his way, gets hurt doesn't like either way, even referee thinks he's faking it to waste time otherwise he wouldn't have booked him. Never seen a player before booked for wasting time while being treated. Oh and he didn't seem to be in much pain other than his pride was hurt. Sadly he got what he deserved from the fans. Had he not created such a fuss and also didn't get off the stretcher I am sure the fans would have clapped him off. Glad to see the back of him he was their best player. Hope he recovers, but he needs to grow up."

"I think in this situation it was complete karma Mr Jones your player from the very start was rough unprofessional and disrespectful to the referee. He went in on Doyle to do the same to him but in this case it backfired, so look at your own players as disgraceful before slating the loyal fans!! PTID"

    Above says it all really..........

More comments in The News today:-

"The player showed a far greater "lack of class" by spitting at the Portsmouth Team Doctor was trying to care for him, that is the reason for the reaction from the fans who clearly saw this disgusting act. It was understandable for the fans to react in support of the Pompey Team Doctor. This was obviously seen by the ref as he was booked, I would have hoped the Manager would have apologised for his players spitting rather than defending it and blaming the fans."

"Nathan Jones, crawl back into your hole you mouthy little gutter-rat. If you knew half the things McGeehan was doing when he was being treated you would understand exactly why such things were being chanted at him."

"Jones showed his "class" in this interview - Low class. What a bitter and twisted ungracious individual! The Fratton End would not normally behave like that without severe provocation, which is certainly what cocky young McGeehan gave them. I wish the player a full recovery, but I also hope that he learns how to behave properly. Pain and frustration are no excuse for his antics."

"This situation is generally out of character for Pompey fans and I'm sure, like me, that the vast majority wish him a speedy recovery. Notwithstanding this, the Luton Manager took the situation to beyond the line of respectability and showed poor professionalism and a lack of dignity. Unlike the opinions of the public being outside the control of Portsmouth FC, I feel that Mr Jones's comments are under the control of the management of Luton Town FC. I would be highly disappointed if the FA and Luton Town do not see this as a disrepute charge. If it is the also the views of Luton Town FC then the whole situation should be investigated externally. I would go with the theories of the great Len Goodman... Put up...Turn up and Shut up!"

"What a awful, despicable little man! Having a rant at the referee as well as the Pompey fans. Surely this counts as bringing the game into disrepute. What about his angelic Luton supporters? Shouting out wanting Gareth Evans to die when he was grounded. Last season we had them throwing a flare at Pompey supporters in the lower North Stand. What next!"

Shame there is no actual video footage of the disgusting antics of McGeehan whilst being treated on the pitch, including allegedly spitting at the Pompey team doctor who was trying to treat him. Nathan Jones should apologise to PFC and their fans for his equally disgusting comments made to the media immediately after the game.

I was reading your posts last night and now see that Cook has appologised on your behalf for the reaction. Have to say having read the comments above and seen the picture above the story on the beeb football website I'm inclind to think Cook is out of order appologising for anything. The bloke looks like he is mouthing it off in that picture so what does he expect.

We got a bit of stick from Wycombe folk for having a go at one of theirs who was eventually taken off on a stretcher. I personally don't do booing of anyone but in that case I could understand why a number did. The bloke was on the deck and the physio came on . The physio had the lad doing squat jumps as part of his treatment or assessment. He then sat back on the pitch and waited for a stretcher having been jumping up and down a minute before. The pitchside was less than 20 yards away but he protested he couldn't make it that far. Funnily enough it took just enough time for him to get stretchered off as it did for his substitute to get on the pitch. This was in the context of the previous meeting between the two sides being a farce where they lay down every few minutes with supposed head injuries even when an ankle got knocked. The Ref did nothing that day to stop it so our supporters have an impression that Ainsworth's teams cheat blatantly. This injury looked every bit as much a farce so they boo'd him. Lack of class or what he deserved??

If I was Cook I would have told their manager to shut up and feck off. Probably why I'm not a manager.

Well Sensible, this was on the Portsmouth News site the other day:-

3:58 PM on 03/01/2017 Ok Jeff. Are you reading this? Take a look at the rhetoric used by one Nathan Jones vis a vis luton's visit to Plymouth last season and the report by the herald about Mr Potts rolling off the pitch and then back on the pitch to get the game stopped. Peter Hartley remonstrated the gamesmanship with Potts and Jones. Jones answer was to lambast the Plymouth fans as , you guessed it, classless! He has form. It's his troops which carry out his game plan and his troops including mcgeehan especially who had already blatantly chopped down 2 or 3 players by the time he went for Doyle. He came off worse and by his own hand. But we as fans have seen enough time wasting from so many visiting teams that crying wolf is certainly an explanation. However, the lad who I wish a speedy recovery did treat those trying to treat him with petulance and contempt. He wasn't in that much pain and even provoked is a role model, injured or not his giving the bird and spitting were inexcusable. You reap what you sow. Nathan Jones is using us as a deflection, he has form and may I suggest he gets a hearing test for his right ear. He heard the booing of his player but not the chants of let him die by the Luton fans with Evans down. Did they even put the ball out? So if anyone is showing a classless attitude I suggest he look closer to home!
