The thing LUST don't seem to realise is that they are not creating an environment of togetherness. What is their objective? It's not to get Bates out, it's to get recognition and a seat on the board. Why would you want that? Self-importance!! When Bates is gone, how will new owners view LUST? I bet with a lot of suspicion. Why would they want to keep LUST close and informed of the inner workings at the club? The moment things go wrong on the pitch LUST will be slaughtering the owners, placing anti-owner posters outside the ground, organising protest marches and releasing "player statements" about dressing room discord, bad contracts and unhappiness. That's how easy it is to ruin your image and goid name, and this is what LUST are doing with their frankly childish tactics. From day one they should have kept on with a gentlemanly approach towards Bates, kept trying to establish an open channel to discuss things, kept Bates informed about supporter feelings and stuck to a professional theme. Instead at the first sign of push back from Bates they crumble and start mud slinging. That shows me they have no idea how to negotiate, and this will hurt them no matter who takes over from Bates.

You'd say that if Gary Cooper ****ing sneezed.

Yes they are. The vision statement, Fans United and Campaign for Change are all very inclusive pieces of work.

Because it's the fans who ought to run football clubs anyway? Because football clubs with fan involvement are statistically more successful than those who don't? Because it's not really 'selfish' at all since they have a transient leadership and represent not themselves, but the fanbase in general?

Doesn't take a lot of working out.

You mean applying the sort of pressure that's getting us rid of the most cancerous twat in our history? I won't lose much sleep about having participated in their protests. The new owners will probably see a passionate, well-managed organization with the largest membership of any independent Leeds supporters group, backed by the government, and want to co-operate as best they can to get the best deal for Leeds fans.

You want them just to be silent and powerless and weak. I don't know why, but you do. Stupid idea. You're no Sun Tzu, are you?

They tried, and Bates slagged them off from the very start, just like he did with the Supporters Club. They tried to get a meeting with Harvey, he failed to turn up. You're very, very ignorant and angry. Why do you have such an axe to grind? Enough of the bullshit, what's the real reason? Is GC schtipping your missus or something?

LUST don't have real financial muscle and don't have any legal ownership rights over Leeds, all they can use is the power of fan support and their own analysis, commentary and publicity to create a pressure for whatever they want to achieve.

On what they want to achieve / are achieving, this will always depend on how other parties (notably the current owners, "neutral" fans, the prospective owners) react to them and cooperate with them.

Given the many instances of Bates making clear his views on any independent input to what he is doing, I fail to see how anyone could expect much more of them.

As someone who is in the "neutral fan" category on LUST,
    a) I fail to see how they could do much more than they are doing, in the current environment,
    and
    b) if I ask, "would things be better if LUST did not exist?" the answer I get is "no, in fact somewhat worse"

I can understand that someone wedded to the idea Bates is doing a great job for the supporters might dislike LUST, but for other fans - I really don't know why you would attack them with such vitriol.
