Luke Young set for QPR stay By Matt LewisSep 21 2012 Add a commentRecommend inShare.0 Share on emailShare on print Luke YoungCROCKED Luke Young looks set to remain at Queens Park Rangers until January. The 33-year-old was left out of the 25-man squad Mark Hughes submitted to the Premier League earlier this month. Rangers had been hoping to offload the former England international before the close of the summer window at the end of August. A move did not materialise and Young was expected to leave Loftus Road after the emergency loan window opened on September 8. However the experienced full-back picked up an injury and has now undergone a hip operation to leave him stranded in west London while he recovers. âLuke has had a procedure on his hip and is now recuperating,â Rangers boss Hughes confirmed to the Chronicle. âHe is not fit at the moment so he is not around. I would think it would be more likely that it would be nearer to the next window before he would be fit and well and looking to go out on loan.â Young arrived at QPR from Aston Villa in the summer of 2011 but has fallen down the pecking order since Hughes replaced Neil Warnock at the helm. Previously with Tottenham and Charlton, Young made 23 league appearances for Rangers last season and has seven England caps to his name. He did do well for us and for a while looked the best of the initial bunch of prem intakes. Then a slight drop in form, an injury and all of a sudden not a sign or soundbite. Thought he'd been wafted away by the spooks or something.
"He is not fit at the moment so he is not around" Sounds to me like it's more than just an injury we're talking about here. The rumours of a rift/bust up between the two seems plausible.
Yeah, this one is bizarre. Hughes just doesn't like him. When he first joined us, he was one of our best players. Not every game was perfect but he had some crackers.
Yeah, I remember that. What is his natural position? We obviously played him at right back but is he actually a CB by nature?
He was a big improvement on Bradley Orr, added experience and goals to the team I'm not convinced Onouha is a step up either, but Bosingwa is for sure. Young will have no bother finding a championship side in January
I thought he was excellent. Was consistent. Wonder why players in form just drop like that. Does the manager see so very different a game from the fans?
Awful player, someone did the stats and a huge amount of goals conceded last season were his fault. He never got beaten because he stands so far off his man that he allows him to put in perfect crosses.
He started well but he was terrible towards the end of his run in the team. I think it was Mclean (?) at sunderland made a right mug of him. Maybe the operation explains his decline.
Yeah ok..but mc Clean is gonna mug a lot of players...as does Rzonaldo...doesnt make the defender a bad player.. Seen some stats that blame him for 13 goals...absolute rubbish.... Hope he could copme back as cover but obviously MH doesnt. Shame really for someone with 6 int caps ??!!
