Sparky obviously doesn't rate him, playing Onuoha out of position in preference. Not a surprise, hopefully he will be realistic on wage demands.
Had a great first half of the season and was our best buy of the summer at that stage. I'm not sure Onuoha is a better RB.
"Hughes has made it plain he wants a 2012-13 squad that is fast, athletic and capable of holding down a comfortable mid-table berth in the Premier League" Luke Young certainly fits the bill as being fast and athletic.
Let's wait for Flyers analysis of how many goals we let in down his channel. Scored a cracker at Stoke though.
Good because hes awful, stands yards off him man and leats crosses come in and 75% of goals conceded come from him not stopping his man when playing. Its like a goalie staying on his line, while he may not make obvious mistakes, lots of goals are still his fault because he didnt come for the cross, see Dzekos header at City. Now dont you think I just may be right considering the manager wants him gone so quickly?
I wasn't having a go at you Flyer, just knew you'd have the figures.....he was an improvement on Bradley Orr, but definitely faltered come the new year. Don't think he's good enough now for where Sparky wants to take us. I think you can lay off Paddy now though......
There's got to be a plan to get a right back. We'd be leaving ourselves very thin if one of our two covering CBs is playing as our only RB.
Just pointing out that players not being brave can cost you more goals in the long run, even if they dont make any obvious mistakes. He could be a good player but I think hes so scared of being done for pace that he just stands off so much and lets every cross come in. I always see the game as how can you improve while others see it as "well he made a good save/tackle/cross" so a lot of people think Im being negative but if you ask anyone in the game, they think the same way. Its the only way to get better.
I'd hope the plus one is definite. Be a little concerned if our only genuine RB was a loanee that has possibly played more at LB for united.
I thought Luke Young did well for us when he joined, although I see where Flyer is coming from. I thought he could of done better when we conceded against West Brom and Norwich at home. Still the best right back we have at the moment. If he does go, I'll always remember his through header that set up Mackie's winner v Liverpool.
Onuoha better defensively and young better in attack. Won't shed a tear if he goes but also wouldn't be disappointed if he stayed /shrug.
He looked fine most of the games and personally I rate him more then Onuoha who looked clumsy at times.
You can train good attacking players to defend but you cant train good defensive players who to attack as a lot of that depends on physical attributes like pace. EG Fabio or Traore could be come top FBs with the right help, Hill will never be one as he has no pace and has got much attacking quality. Also, take into account the age and Young is only going to get worse and slower.
I thought Young was good at first, especially going forward, but he seemed to fall asleap on a few occasions on crosses coming acroos goal with calamitous results. I doubt he will go anywhere until we have another good RB, hope not anyway as we'd be very thin there.
