With Danny Fox having a difficult start to the season, could this be Shaw's chance? He's young and inexperienced but obviously has quality - a quality that could well improve the left side of our defence. Bale broke though at a really young age so why not?
Danny Fox will continue to have a difficult start , middle and end as he is ****e , Shaw a possibility but Zambrotta a defo !
Shaw isn't good enough yet, he struggled against stevenage but I don't see him becoming a starter until we've got a fair few points on the board. I'd also say that Zambrotta is 35 years old and on monster wages, so that's a no.
Shaw just needs some match practice against good opposition. He has the talent and just needs to adapt to the pace of the game. Give him a chance and it won't take long for him to find form.
Considering Ward-Prowse has so effortlessly strolled into the team, I don't see why Shaw couldn't do the same. If Fox is injured, then I would probably expect to see Shaw.
Fox really is'nt as bad as people make out. People slating him for giving Valencia to much space. That is commonly what happens when the winger is considerably quicker than the full back. Its how to defend to your strengths.
But there's less pressure on WP, as if he makes a mistake either Schneiderlin or Davis can cover. If Shaw makes a mistake he's the only one in his position
My main problem with Fox is his ball retention, he panics when pressure is applied lofting the ball high & does not pass the ball out; not retaining possession in the Prem is a sin.
You seem to suffer OCD about certain players, would be more pleasant if you praised the good'uns and just not post about the badduns as it serves no purpose.
Fonte hasn't played right since he had that sensible haircut. Foxy needs some more tattoos to balance himself out.
Without Fox we miss a pin point cross and he takes a lot of our set-pieces. Although saying that, I would prefer to have Buttner or Olsson in his position. Or that Boileson.
We'll have Gaston & Lambert for direct free-kicks, and Gaston, Lallana, and JWP for corners. Don't think that's a good enough excuse to keep Fox in the side really! Lat
I disagree with that. If a CM makes a mistake, then another CM has to abandon his own duties and stray from his position in the same way that a CB would have to do to cover a full-back. In fact, a mistake in the middle of the park can often be more costly than a mistake at left back.
We can't do anything until January though. Shaw looked responsible for Stevenage's goal and looked a bit lightweight. I don't think he's ready yet.
Maybe, maybe not. At that age you only improve with game time. I guess my point is that while there's currently not a lot between Fox and Shaw (bar experience), Shaw's potential will make him the far better player in not too much time. I'd rather risk the short term downgrade for the benefit of a massive upgrade we'll see before we've even reached the halfway point of the season. Think if Fox is injured, it's the perfect time to start him off. Would love to see Shaw start vs Arsenal. Lat
I am all for giving Luke his shot at LB if Foxy isnt fit. As already stated, JWP was given the opportunity as Corky is injured and has given NA a great headache when he is fit to play again. No reason why Luke shouldnt be the same If we do not blood these youngsters then there is no point having them in the forst team squad and they will quickly get disallusioned and move on to clubs where they will be given a chance Also, if Luke plays against Arsenal he will probably be up against Theoso physical strength is not required as Theo falls over if the wind blows too strong, it is all about pass and Luke appears to be pretty damn quick and would probably be more suiterd than Foxy who isnt the quickest
