http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...outhampton-despite-interest-from-Chelsea.html From Jeremy Wilson, a well-connected Saints fan. Lets hope this is true and in light of developments and talk of Spurs and Chelsea interest Luke has reaffirmed himself to the club again since Mauricio's appointment. DTLW
That smells of a careful leak from the club to calm the speculation. Chelsea's ability to develop young players is woeful, as long as he doesn't have complete idiots advising him we should be okay.
January 2013... May 2013... Luke Shaw has told Southampton of his desire to stay and sign a first senior contract at the club this summer, despite interest from Chelsea. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...outhampton-despite-interest-from-Chelsea.html July 2013... please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Nothing in that article that we didn't already know. MLG - it's a bit concerning that that picture of a contract hasn't been signed!
Yeah, we all know that @FOOTBALLITKTRANSFERNEWSSOURCERELIABLEFIFAMANAGENT69 is in the know with these things.
He said that he was hearing rumours that Chelsea would be announcing a signing in January, and lo and behold, they signed someone in January. Don't know what other proof you need.
If I found a picture on google images of a signed contract would you then be concerned because it wasn't actually Shaw's signature?
When he said that Sir Alex would retire anytime in the next 10 years, I didn't believe him. But no, he proved me and many others wrong. ITK
Man all panic stations! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2328682/David-Moyes-wants-sign-Luke-Shaw.html the mail has spoken
Since these stories can't get the basics right, like saying he hasn't yet signed a professional contract (he has), I wouldn't pay much attention to the rest.
Why didn't shaw play for us in the championship, I can imagine he wasn't as good as he is now but I'm sure he would have held his own had he been played. Doesn't really matter but it would have maybe meant that we shaw starting straight away rather than wait for Fox to crumble. I suppose Fox was good enough to keep his place in the championship and we could have had a situation like what was alleged to have happened with puncheon/chamberlain (I think puncheon was pissed off to not be starting but didn't take it out on chamberlain.) I want to see all our talented youngsters get a go as soon as they look like being as good as their competition, it could be a dangerous game to play sometimes but we have seen with so many of our youngsters that they can really thrive when they are given the chance.
No he hasn't, not one that gives Saints any protection from him leaving and the club only getting "compensation" via a FA panel. He agreed in principal, to sign a 5 year contract with Saints on his 18th birthday in July. Which under FA rules, is the earliest he can sign a contract of that length.
The Daily Mail and The Telegraph lead the race to write unsubstantiated speculation about Saints teenager Luke Shaw. In a dramatic twist, the two papers made up completely contradictory non-stories about the youngster. The Sun and The Mirror are also rumoured to be preparing stories about the promising young centre forward, who has scored no goals this season {some mistake, surely?-Ed}.
