Just read an interesting article this morning pointing out Di Canio having an interest in want away Gillingham winger Luke Rooney. Apparently He (DC) mentioned that he was interested in him after the gills match at the county ground. A fan who commented on the article mentioned that PDC walked onto the pitch and spoke to Rooney. I find all of his rejections of contracts odd unless there is a club lined up. There was I thinking contract talks/any interest cannot be mentioned until 6 months prior to the end of a contract without the parent clubs permission. Thoughts? Sorry if this has already been mentioned. UTG.

thanks di canio any chance of him signing a new contract has gone with that, especially given the new ammunition his agent can now use to hold us to ransom!! try and sell him for just more than what we'd get at tribunal for him in jan and use the wages to sign kuffour perminantly!!

Looks like it'll be a reasonably long running problem, I don't think tribunals are set out unless it's a last resort. So when his contract runs out and Swindon sign him up, naturally we need to offer him a contract with better terms then he's on currently (which we've done) to show we were unwilling to let him go. Swindon aren't in a massive need for wingers at the moment but if Di Canio does feel he needs him asap (could happen as he is pretty erratic) and we could get a fee sorted than that would be fantastic. Let's just hope Kuffour isn't going to be courted by Charlton! Still it's a real shame to see another youth product leave under a cloud like this.

Don't worry too much this is pretty much a nothing story made up by a lazy press. All that would have happened in a journo would have asked in the press conference "Would you like to get Luke Rooney?" and DiCanio would have said "Yes". There is no evidence that Swindon have made or will make an approach at all

Don't let him go too cheap as obviously Di Canio wants him and he is not a bad player.
    300k will do,.

Certainly could have done with him today, a bit of his energy, skills and quality would have been a great improvement on the turgid fair we had to endure this afternoon. Never mind at least Montrose came on to compliment the attacking skills of Lee and J Payne so it was not too much of a surprise the game ended 0-0

All Di Canio has said is He likes him as a player which managers have said about some of our players at STFC so Hessenthaler is throwing his toys out the pram like most managers in this division when Di Canio makes a comment as they all know Di Canio is a high profile manager.

Bilko.....Di Canio was a fairly high profile player. He has not proved himself in any way, shape or form as a manager yet.
Bobby Charlton was a very high profile player....yet never cut it as a manager.

so why do all the other managers say he's high profile in this league and lets face it id rather listen to them than a Pikey like you.
He's high profile as Andy Scott- Micky Adams- Dean Holdsworth - Terry Brown and Lawrie Sanchez have said so far.

At least you have the ugliest manager in the league and Andy the German will be remembered for that.
