Reports in the midlands suggest that the deal to bring the 26 year old Forest Centre Back to Portman Road is all but done and he will become a Town player next week. Taking nothing for granted but if true he will be a great addition http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=20934&title=town_chasing_chambers
I ll believe it when I see it jonny, so far weve signed a sick note from Macclesfield reserves since April! I bet the other Championship clubs are frightened to death. What a disgrace.
TBH, There are loads of rumours without substance out there at the moment and most should be taken with a pinch of salt. Joel Ward is the only one really that has got me upset, because that is the only definate that i can think off that we have missed out on. But then again i believe we could have done a lot better than him. Regarding Luke Chambers, would be a fantastic signing if it happens but we really need a keeper PJ!
Nick Powell now of Man Utd, formerly of Crewe, could be joining us next week on a season long loan! Excellent if this one happens! http://www.ipswich.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=285131
There's nothing wrong with the odd loan signing, as long as it really is the odd loan signing. I think we can all agree we don't want another season like the last where we barely recognize the players we have. In my opinion, Chambers, Davis and Powell would all be good signings, however there is always a great deal of doubt with town until its signed and on the club website!
Can't really complain about it if we sign him tbh, looks a great player but I think we have enough players of our own to play in that position and would rather see we develop our own players. Whilst I'm not against a few loan signings I think they should only be made when you are pretty short in a position or view it as a possible permanent signing in the future but then again if you think you can get a player of Powells quality on loan you'd be foolish not to go for it I geuss!!
No to Powell for reasons stated by PTC ('kin hell whats going on) The only way i would want to see a loan is to cover a position that we have been unable to fill/cover, oh well looks like a couple of loan gk's then!!
The other potential problem with a loan of Powell is that for all his undoubted potential he has never played against opposition higher than league 2. Its not a man utd reserve how has spent 2 or 3 years playing against premier league reserves and needs to take the step up to a competitive atmosphere. If we had signed him than no problems giving him time to aclimatise but would rather not take the risk when he is not ours.
chambers would be a good signing for you. had a great season two years ago but not too sure what happened to him last season - personal problems maybe? get him back to his previous level and you've got yourselves a bargain. just lacks pace, otherwise i think some premier league teams may have been interested.
So the club captain of a side that did worse than us last season and is being let go is a great signing? Florist fans point the finger squarely at him for the infighting and disharmony within their squad. He had a good season when he was being guided by Morgan. He's not a leader, he's very slow and a row Z merchant. If this is our level and the type of player we can attract then fair play.... I'd rather have O'Dear, he's ****ing crap
he admittedly had a nightmare last season, but a change of scenery may do him good - there is a good defender in there somewhere. it would be a risk for ipswich but then the majority of transfers are risks! at this moment in time, i doubt you'll get many better defenders want to join you than him, especially on a free. its a risk you may well have to take...
Similar situation to McAuley, who we signed from a relegated squad and who is now a premier league player. Just because your squad is crap it doesnt mean every individual in it is.
Agreed, but you've obviously chosen not to read what I've typed. Joel Lynch held their defence together last season. Go and look at the Trees forums, they're doing cartwheels that he's off. Happy Birthday for whenever it was Supers "i doubt you'll get many better defenders want to join you than him" - I just love your informed "expert" opinions on ITFC
Maybe similar to McAuley, I think now everyone realises what a big loss he was where this time last year alot of people thought he was crap and Delaney was the better of the 2, clearly that was not the case and logic has been restored. IMO i think it could be similar to the Leadbitter situation. Both are good players(leadbitter & Chambers) and both didn't take to captaincy in the end alot of fans got on their backs and they probs didn't help themselves with their performances at times when both clubs were struggling. Probably best for both the player and the club that they move on and in turn Middlesborough and hopefully us have got a very good player on a free!!
