Lukasz Fabianski has tasked his agent with finding him a new club. Fabianski, 26, has been with Arsenal for four seasons. He was sounded as the long-term solution to Arsenalâs goalkeeping crisis. He came to England following a string of impressive performances with Legia Warsaw (Polandâs biggest club) which also saw him named the best goalkeeper in Polandâs top leagues. However, upon joining Arsenal, Fabianski has regressed into nothing more than an adequate back-up keeper. This can in part be attributed to being in and out of the team and never really having been given an extended run in the first team. This meant that he has failed to establish himself, or endear himself to the Arsenal fans. The goalkeeper has already vented his frustrations at being number 2 at Arsenal. A self-assured and confident individual, he has approached Arsene Wenger for assurances over his future, and was not given the answers that he felt he deserved. As such, with his options being limited, and his contract expiring at the end of the season, Fabianski has made clear that he has no intentions of renewing his contract at Arsenal. His agent has now been asked to secure a deal with a club effective for next season, or if possible, from the January transfer window. thoughts? http://www.footie-online.co.uk/2011...tructs-his-agent-to-find-him-a-new-club/7255/
Goodbye. Decent enough keeper but one that we can replace with an experienced keeper who can go on to coach at the club. Mark Schwarzer might still be a target and also someone like Thomas Sorensen can do a job.
He was good at times, and looked like a future number one. Then again, so did Almunia. With Szczesny we have a world class keeper. Now we just need a world class defence.
Lukasz needs to go if he wants to play, simple as that. Mannone excelled with Hull and was good preseason and he is "home grown", so a natural No 2 . If he does not have other ambitions.
A bit harsh from some of you. He needs games to realise his potential and will have to leave to get that. I feel a abit sorry for him as he was expected to be Arsenal and Polands no 1 by now but then Szczesney came and took both spots from him.
He's a good keeper but that run of form he had was the worst I have ever seen in a goalkeeper. I doubt any top team will take a chance on him.
Hope so I've always thought he was a liability. Decent shotstopper but completely irrational, made alot of high profile errors in a short period of time. Certainly not good enough for a Champions League club, I'm not even sure if he's premier league quality. Wenger is such a bad judge of keepers. We got lucky with Chesney. Mart Poom Richard Wright Rami Shabaan Alex Manniger Graham Stack Fabianski Almunia I genuinely think Sczezney has the ability to be another David Seaman for us - the guy has incredible potential and seems like a decent guy too.
I won't be sad to see him go and he needs to go for his future. Any player at 26 who is happy to be 2nd choice has something wrong with them.
That's the problem, there is only 1 goalkeeping position and because it's not as strenuous as outfielders there's less pressure on the body, therefore they last longer and need less rest. The only teams who have two top class keepers are those who spend big, as Magic says, why would you be satisfied sitting on a bench for 5 years unless you were clearing £100k a week ?
