If he performs like he did against Arsenal then that will do me. If he performs like he has in any other game this season then we are going to struggle, but there's a good chance he'll score anyway.
I don't think Jose rates him he will be available In the summer IMO I hope If we do get him we are not reemed too much
I think it's fairly obvious he'll be available, lets hope he doesn't star at the WC, or he might end up totally beyond our reach
I am not 100% on wanting him, especially at the reported £20m asking price. If we could get him for £10-12m then great. He blows hot and cold with the goals, but links up well with Naismith and Barkley. If he storms the WC then he will go for big money and thats us out of the picture (we should have some Fellaini cash - £10m) as I wouldn't want all our cash spent on him as we need to look long term at replacing Pienaar and Ossie who are getting on a bit.
At anything under £20m he'd be great business on a 5 yr deal imo. As he's only 20, and will only get better. He's the same age as Barkley who makes some shocking errors of judgement virtually every week, but gets excused them due to his age and inexperience. Whereas everyone seems to think Lukaku should be Mr Consistent
i understand your thinking, but there is a little more pressure on Barkley to perform and he is playing in a position where any mistake could be costly. He was average against united in my opinion and is guilty of trying too hard at times. But he keeps trying and he will learn from this first full season. Lukaku is in front of Barkley in experience/development due to the edditional top flight games he has played in the league. His clever running and high workrate have slowed in the second half, maybe this is due to martinez or his injury? I would have him....who else will we get?
If we get priced out of Lukaku, I'd try for Bony, who's impressed me every time I've seen him. we'll also need at least 1 other striker once the hapless beanpole goes back to Monaco. We need to secure Barry on a permanent, and if that's a no go, then we'll have to spend big filling his shoes. Young Gerard will probably go back to Barca, which leaves us short out wide, albeit McGeady should feature more next season and there's Pienaar to come back in.
