We need a goal scorer, El Burro certainly doesnt meet this criteria. Ba shows promise but isnt getting a run of games to build his confidence thanks to the Fat Kahnt. This close season I seriously think that we should cut our losses with Torres and sell him back to Athletico for 15 million. Then have Lukaku and Ba as our strike force. Ba can score goals and Lukaku has been awesome at Brom. I honestly dont think we would need a new striker if we can get those two playing well. Then maybe promote a striker from the youth team as back up. Thoughts?
It's a tough call. Are Ba and Lukaku good strikers? Yes. Are they in the bracket of Aguero / RVP / Rooney / Suarez and will take us to the next level? Probably not (certainly not yet for Lukaku at only 19). If we have the money, I think a Torres + cash for Falcao seems a no brainer. Ba as back up with either a youth player or cheaper 3rd choice and let Lukaku have another season at Brom.
Lukaku looks **** hot. Pretty jealous he's a Chelsea player not Utd... not that we are struggling for attacking talent atm anyways
the more I watch Lewendowski the more I want him, his contract is up next summer and would be considerably cheaper than Falcao. We'd be competing with Bayern though, so Champions League is a must which tbh it is anyway if we want to attract Falcao. Anyway we should have learnt by now that throwing £50m at a striker in the latter part of his career is not the answer! Lukaku has made it pretty clear he wants regular football, he's not going to get that with Ba and a new signing at the club while he is. I suggest another loan to a PL club with European football (West Brom are good but maybe someone a step above, Swansea or Everton, someone of that ilk) and have Ba, new signing and perhaps promote Feruz who looks like he could be lethal given a chance.
I want Lukaku as the first striker next season - why not? He's got bags of talent, and with the team around him, any holes in his game should be covered for as he grows.
Maybe, our problem is that we don't give youngsters a chance. As long as Torres is there, Lukaku hasn't got a hope.
I can't understand why anybody would want to play torres ahead of Lukaku.... Lukaku is so much more effective and will only get better with game time. Then again, 'you don't win anything with kids'...
Because Roman says so, which is the ****ed up thing. He spent £50m and I can guarantee it's why he got Rafa, to try and ignite Torres. I've been saying for over a year now Torres should be moved on ASAP.
It wouldn't matter if we get Falcao, Hulk, Saurez and Aguero up front, without a proper midfield we will still be pissing in the wind.
This lads earned his spurs! Flog Torres ( if we can get £5m grab it with both hands) and start him as 1st choice striker next season! 35 goals guaranteed!
Hey Blue, things are bad enough at the club as it is. Please don't say "spurs" in a positive email again......have you gone crazy?????
You certainly need a reliable striker, Lukaku has seemed to be one for WBA, however I am worried that if Falcao goes to you he might end up being the new Torres?
Ake proved faith in youth can pay off. Lukaku next season up top - De Bruyne, Omuero, Piazon and Chalobah back in the squad as well. Have a very good squad coming through there.
Roman has the capability to make anyone new Torres, by throwing incredible money at them.. As much as I hate Torres - equally I pity him as well for the pressure he was put under with that price tag!
I'd have to agree with that assessment. However, I am confident that, by next season, he won't be far off; and his potential is out of this world. I wish we had Lukaku. And I cannot pay him any compliment higher than that.
I'm pretty sure we will make another TORRES out of FALCAO OR CAVANI... thanks to hapless managers, good English media and last but not least the HEFTY PRICE TAG !! we don't need marquee signings and just have to nurture what we have got !!
They will have lots of Falcao cash from Real who will buy Bale, which means you can afford him too. He isn't ex-Arsenal so you probably won't want him though
It's great to see him doing so well. I know a lot of fans want him here now, but lets be honest, at the start of the season nobody would've predicted how well he's currently doing. I still think it was the correct decision to loan him out and keep him there for the season. Not only has he been getting first team football but also in the best league possible. Hopefully we can do it with a few more youngsters in future seasons and they turn out to be as successful as this one!
