http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23222924 What do you think Gooners, would you want him and do you think that a higher bid will come in?
Let me breakdown this rumour down and explain why it is complete nonsense. Firstly Suarez has clearly stated that he's fed up of the British media and is angling for a move to Real Madrid. Secondly, Liverpool do not want to sell. Thirdly, Liverpool do not have to sell. Lastly, they will not sell one of the best stikers in the Premiership to their direct competitor, a competitor that is going for Champions league qualification as well.
All 4 points have been made for/by other players in the past and all 4 points have been turned on their heads. So it's a far cry from being "complete nonsense". That said, I agree with you in thinking we won't be signing him. More is the pity
Hold your horses. We aren't in competition with Liverpool and we haven't been for about the last 3/4 seasons. Anyway, I hope this crap doesn't materialise.
I think it would be a really difficult deal to do, but as I've said before, I'd have Suarez at Arsenal in a flash. Proven goalscorer in the premier league and a really hungry player, he'd score bucket loads at Arsenal. I don't think it's going to happen though. More pertinent, as mentioned in the article is that this might wake Real up to the fact that if they play hard ball with Higuain, we'll go elsewhere
You are in competition with every team you play against in the league Look up the word League and then look up the word competition I think the Beeb article is lies anyways, those salford twats just make stuff up as they go along imo
Not sure it's lies, but it does look like a move engineered to try and force Real to make a decision.
LIverpool aren't a millions miles away from us in the league and if Rodgers get his signings firing early, then they could challenge a Champions League spot. But I agree with Piskie, it could be Arsenal bidding for the sake of bidding to try and get Real moving on the Higuain signing, and or Suarez's agent trying to get Real to move. The fact of Arsenal buying Suarez is not the case.
Very true. Lafferpool are in a group with West Brom and Swansea fighting for a EL place. They are a million miles away from challenging the top 6.
I don't agree with that, the squad that they have with the new signings still isn't very impressive, certainly not powerful enough to climb the table by more than one place, never mind challenge for a Champions League spot. All I can see next season is an even bigger gap created between the top 4 and Liverpool, consider the signings that ourselves and the other top teams will be making, it's just going to make things even more difficult for Liverpool. Also consider their best player is inevitably going, and there's no way they'll be able to replace him properly.
Yes agreed its probably a bit too early for Liverpool but we will have to wait and see what these new signings will do for Liverpool.
Even just after the bite I admitted I'd have him in a heartbeat. It's just not going to happen though, he will opt for a big club with recent success, wherever he goes. He doesn't want to play in England, and even if he did Arsenal would be too similar to Liverpool (despite CL) in that it's a big club, but one that hasn't been challenging in recent years. At 26 he'll be looking to go somewhere where the odds of winning things are higher.
Ok getting back to football than personal insults. The latest on Suarez: Phil McNulty, BBC SportFOOTBALL "Luis Suarez's agent Pere Guardiola travelled to Merseyside on Monday to discuss the striker's future with Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and managing director Ian Ayre - and to reiterate it is the Uruguayan's wish to join a Champions League club. "Guardiola held separate meetings, which were planned and understood to be amicable, with Rodgers and Ayre, at which Liverpool insisted their position had not changed and they wished to keep Suarez at Anfield. "The agent, brother of Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola, did not submit any official transfer request on behalf of Suarez, who is currently on an extended break after playing for Uruguay in the Confederations Cup in Brazil. "Liverpool have already rejected a £30m offer from Arsenal for Suarez, who has spoken publicly this summer about his disenchantment with life in England and what he regards as unfair treatment from the media."
This is interesting, always felt at the time that Suarez was using the media exposure he gets as a lame excuse to get out of Liverpool. The thing is, is he going to use Arsenal and Chelsea to prod a top European club to come in for him or does he think that a move to London may be enough to be considered a fresh start for him? Truth is we will not find out with derisory £30M bids, but if our interest in him is genuine and we were just testing the water with a £30M bid then there must have been some encouragement from the player's side to make a bid for him. It could even explain why so many bets were placed on him joining us in Barcelona, maybe Pere Guardiola has leaked some info to a few of his friends.
