Ah, fair enough, thought it was just a local thing.
Actually that reminds me...

Coming to a town near you.

Bailiff fraud.

Companies who have had CCJs issued are being targeted by fraudsters who ring with details of the judgement and say it has been sent out for Enforcement. They say that they are Bailiffs from Northampton County Court Business Centre and they are on the way. They say the only way to stop them is to pay direct to a bank account. The account is real but they are not. Northampton CCBC does not have Bailiffs and the term is now Enforcement Agent. 7 clear days notice have to be given and no one would ask for money on the telephone anyway. These twats have had tens of thousands paid to them on the last two or three months. They target areas just in case cash is offered and they then send a “courier” round.

A note on getting your loses refunded, i got a letter from Barclays informing me of some changes to the terms and conditions of the account. If you do not reply they take that as acceptance of the new conditions. One of the big changes was to do with card misuse refunds, it's going to get a lot harder to get your money back.
Went on to say if your not happy with the new conditions they would be more than willing to close the account.

I don't think that one works any more, it was a quirk of the phone system in Hull that you were able to keep the line open when someone hung up, I seem to remember KCOM taking action to prevent it from happening now.

It wasn't in Hull, and was relatively recently.

EDIT. I see Omega's already pointed this out. <ok>
