I was having a pint with a bunch of lads, some Mackems, some Mags and the 2009 relegation battle came up, the Mags really hold a grudge and insist the wrong team went down, so I pointed out Sunderland were a clear 2 points in front of them so that was hardly fair (a bit of harmless diversion!). I thought **** it and weighed in with how sad I had been to lose their six points, it then started getting lively! But the real point is we talked about the relevant games and the Mackems are all totally down on Danny Graham who they called worse than ****e. They are seriously losing faith with MON, does anyone think they could slide and that Graham is not up to it?
Sunderland look doomed. The fans blame Steve Bruce for their recent slump, but didn't their board sell Asamoah Gyan and Darren Bent without telling SB on Deadline day, meaning he couldn't find a replacement? If so, it's not really Brucey's fault as they were doing fine with their strikers. This Season, it just doesn't look like it's going to come together for them. Can't see them going down this Season as Villa, DQPR, Reading and Southampton are much worse.
Yeah, you can add DJ Campbell to the lucky escape list too, I guess, along with good luck out there on the pitch, this is the kind of luck you need to turn a good season into a great one!
I was thinking if DJ Campbell had signed then Gedo wouldn't have been starting games and we probably wouldn't have signed Boyd
Thank **** we dodged that bullet. A gold tooth and a neck tattoo - ****ing chav. He would have ruined team photo's.
Yeah exactly, plus if Forest hadn't been so ****ing stupid we wouldn't have signed George Boyd! If you're club's gonna get some good luck then the business end of the season is the best time to get it. The mere thought of DJ Campbell being involved in our team makes me shudder, thank God for the Venky's!
Yeah a great swerve on him as well, although that was possibly more down to Papa's insistence on getting SB in rather than just good luck.
I don't understand how Newcastle fans think they were better than us- we took 4 points off them that year and knocked them out the cup. As i said back then, we had an awful season from mid December onwards, but they were useless all year long.
MON is and always has been one dimensional - get big guys up front and wide men who can cross the ball - Steve Guppy et al. They should have been careful what they wished for. Maybe a Geordie managing the Mackems was always gonna be the problem.
You think it's unreasonable for a huge club with massive support and great players to think they were better than us?
