Firstly i have only watched Match of the Day. My observations were that he gets on the end of crosses a lot more than Holt, which could be a handy baring in mind whether we like it or not. We focus our play down the wings and put balls into the box. Firstly what did people at the game thing? To me he looks as though he fits our system better than Holt.
I thought that Senderos and Hangeland hassled him a lot they didn't give him much time on the ball, there was a bit in the second half when he actually got some time on the ball and looked good nothing special but I think if given the chance he would punish defences. I would of liked to of seen Holt against Fulham I think he would of worn them down more.
I thought Becchio did okay. I agree that Fulham's centre halves doubled up on him, and he spent a fair amount of time on the floor in the first part of the first half. He was positionally more 'disciplined' than Holt and played much more in a centre forward role than Holt does. In general, I think we were watching two disciplined mid-table teams cancelling each other out, and that is not a pretty sight. In a more open game, I can see Becchio getting goals.
Impossible to judge him in that game, but had Holt been fit and both had started as was the plan, then I think we could cause defences some problems, or atleast more than we are at present!
I also felt Becchio did all right in his first start and that he could free up Holt if they play together. Kamara's brief cameo also looked promising, but the development game tomorrow may give us a better idea of what he can do.
He won't be in the development game tomorrow. Based on what Hughton saw yesterday, he is taking Kamara off with the rest of the 1st team squad for some warm weather training in Abu Dhabi. Kamara's tweets are full of the excitement of it.
I think we have to with old judgement on him until he plays the role he was bought for. He had no chance yesterday and his one opening was an instinctive reaction which leads me to believe he can be useful in the box.
I think that both Becchio and Kamara looked promising. They actually look as if they might suit each other's games well if Holt was to be out for a while, but we'll see. The one issue that Becchio seemed to have in the first half is that he didn't offload quickly enough, and soon got closed down, but I think that was rectified at half-time. The more game time both new strikers have, the better they'll get.
Thought he was fine - he was up against two good, solid, experienced defenders and acquitted himself ok. He would have benefitted from having Holt with him to take some of the strain and I think him in tandem with Holt will be a useful combo - I can see him getting goals IF the service to him is good, but that's an entirely different and potentially more concerning story.
Warm weather training in Abu Dhabi? The United Kingdom rarely reaches above 27 Celsius for about two weeks a year let alone 40! Good for team building I suppose.
In those amazing underground stadiums with air conditioning. Sure it'll be the funnest World Cup for all the fans visiting.
You think they deserve it Dave?, wonder if Holty is going or is he staying home to have treatment on his back.
He's gone to get some sun on his back! Warm weather training is not a reward, it's a way of beating poor weather at home!
For those asking, Holt has tweeted he is off for warm-weather training, so his back can't be too bad.
