Hey guys arsenal fan in peace. Just wondering who you guys think is going to make it from your academy in which you seem to be investing quite a bit. Lucas piazon obviously stands out and was recently on the bench for the carling cup. I know hes young but considering your ageing midfield (mata and ramnires aside) do you think he will make his debut in the carling cup next year and do a 'fabregas'. Another guy who i always does well against us atleast <grr> is lalkovic who seems to be a better striker than lukaku though i'm just judging from his appearances against us. I actually think you've got some top prospects coming up and noticed while watching the victory shield (yeah i'm that lame!) that you guys had 6 representatives which is good to see, was particularly impressed with reuben loftus cheek. Taking that into consideration its quite surprising you dont do well in the academy league though the players you play are quite young and some out on loan.

We haven't in the last 10 years brought forward any of the vast number of very talented Academy players we have produced. However with the rules of CL engagement about to change (balancing the books etc) there is a great possibility we may see the situation change. As you know we are close to making the FA Youth Cup final after beating Man Utd away in the 1st leg of the semi final--and my guess is there will be more than a sprinkling of this team that will go on to wear a senior shirt!

yeah congrats on that was on itv4 but didnt get to see it sadly :(. With regards to your academy i think the CL rules will be hard to implement but regardless of that it will be silly not to give some of them a chance. Btw i notice mceachran hasnt started recently for swansea any idea why? I would have thought it was a great move for him.

Nathaniel Chalobah is a good prospect and I'm sure Sam Hutchinson would've featured had he not had to retire (great to see him back playing though)! Not sure why Josh hasn't featured much but Swansea have done well so it would be quite difficult for Rodgers to fit him in unless there are injuries!

Yeah that loan move seems a bit pointless to me. Not getting much game time by the look of it,

CB, most Chelsea fans /supporters are as puzzled as you are why we don't bring our kids through. The maniacs that control our club seem more obsessed with "names " than talent !! Right now we have all the kids mentioned in this post who could play NOW, plus at least 4 others , like Bertrand and Van Aarnolt. Then there's the Belgian kid goalkeeping at Malaga? De Bruyn, who we won't see for 18 months.
Some fans say some are not good enough, but they said that about David Luiz just 3 months ago. Thing is, if they don't play regularly, we'll never know. I'm 100% with Bluemoon 2, lets hope we are "forced " to play some next year or so via new regulations. We could then afford to pay some big dosh for the 3 special players we really need to lift the team .

Oh yeah courtois for athletico Madrid i think. Haven't seem much of him but seems a natural successor to cech. That may be true but I doubt it'll go on like this. Tbh I felt AVB may have given some of them a chance but he's gone now. It'll certainly be wise doing as you suggested In order to get some quality players in the summer rather than focus on quantity. Kakuta seems to be,doing well at Dijon but do u think he can make the break through? In any case all the clubs competing for top four seem to have a good generation of youth coming through in addition to Aston villa, Southampton and west ham of course interesting to see how many make it.

Wasn't Huth after Terry? I would consider him a regular bar for injuries.

I thought we signed Huth from a Berlin club? I know he was fairly young at the time--but he didn't come through our academy!

Yes, when he was 14, I think you can class him as part of the youth system cos when he was at West Ham he was played as a midfielder and only started playing centre half with us.. Huth joined us when he was 17 so doesn't really count.

I don't think you can really call him our youth product. Like Huth he joined us too late to really count.

Fair call CP, but they are still kids and I would love to see them play instead of running around in Chobam.
