Must admit when i saw the pair of them lining up in midfield, was slightly worried. How quickly those fears where put to bed.

I'll own up to having my reservations about Lucas thought he was a little lightweight, and tended to let games pass him by. However since the turn of the year his effort to the cause and improvement have been outstanding.

Spearing is a bit of an unsung hero, local lad come good. Hardworking, fearless with a good football brain.

The two of them together Monday showed what hard work and commitment can achieve. When one went, the other stayed. No fancy 40 yard passes, little 5-10 yard passes and move into space to get a return. Close quickly and be strong in the tackle. In short they where a major reason for the great result.

So whilst not everyone's favorite's (me included) Credit to the pair of them for a fantastic job.

I'm the opposite to you really I liked Lucas and always thought he would come good but have not really been a fan of Spearing. He is starting to change my mind though I suppose we have to be patient with some players, not everyone takes it in their stride like Flanagan. :cheesy:

Lucas is great though he's taken all the stick which was justified at times and just kept working he's now more physical his decision making is better and his passing more accurate. He deserves a lot of credit for the commitment he has shown.

Who would have thought we'd be looking to buy cover for Lucas next season. :cheesy:

luvgonzo..Totally agree on your comments re Lucas, took alot of stick early on. Seemed to be a bit of a Rafa's pet, but he's stuck in there worked on his weaknesses and for £6 million looks a bit of a bargin now.

I completely agree with the comments regarding Lucas. I, like many Liverpool fans, doubted if he was good enough when he first came to Liverpool but in the past year or so, he's proved me wrong. He has been excellent in the centre of the pack. Credit to the lad. :emoticon-0100-smile

I hope a lot more take it in their stride in the same way John Flanagan and Martin Kelly did.Thats the sign they will have a future, all the best ones over the years took the transition in their stride,God,Macca,Judas,Stevie and Carra. Some of the ones that did it at other clubs did too,David Thompson,Dom Matteo.

I always had faith in Lucas as well. He has grown in stature this season but I feel his "spurt" was last year. I'm still a little concerned about Spearing. I feel he is too lightweight and generally a yard off the pace. I hope he proves me wrong but I could see him playing at a Bolton type team.

I can see Spearing being another ''Sammy Lee''.He has that tigerish enthusiasm.Good player to have in the squad. If Citeh had a similar player, they may have had a better chance of winning.Spearing at one stage had the brass balls to clatter into YaYa Toure as if to say,''I'm worthy to be on the same pitch as you''.Spearing bounced straight back up and went about his business, without a care in the world, great atitude.
