Luc Castaignos Should Sign For Moyes …Not QPR or West Ham
    Date: 21st July 2012 at 11:53 am | Filed under: Everton,Inter Milan,Premiership,Queens Park Rangers,Transfer Rumours,
A trio of Premier League clubs face a battle to sign want away Inter Milan striker Luc Castaignos . Everton, QPR and West Ham are interested in the youngster, who is courted by a number of managers across Europe.

The promising forward joined the Nerazzurri for £3 million in 2011 having scored an impressive 15 goals in 34 games for Feyenoord . He has since failed to recapture that form, making only eight appearances and scoring one goal in his first season in Italy.

Described as ‘the next Thierry Henry’, Liverpool were thought to be interested in the youngster but now Everton, West Ham and QPR, who have had a £3 million offer turned down, look favourites to sign the Dutchman.

Castaignos has made clear his desire to play is the motivating factor in his expected transfer. With that in mind you would expect Merseyside would be his preferred destination.

Mark Hughes brought in Bobby Zamora and Djibril Cisse in January. Both players will expect to lead the R’s line, so opportunities may be limited. Similarly, West Ham have a number of forwards to support first choice Carlton Cole .

While Everton’s lone forward role will be occupied by Nikica Jelavic , the Feyenoord youth product would be given the playing opportunities he desires.

Jelavic’s arrival in January solved the Toffees goal scoring problems but despite that they don’t have a suitable replacement should he get injured or suffer a goal drought.

It may not be what Castaignos wants but he will have to prove his critics wrong and David Moyes would allow him to do that without the pressure of being the first choice striker.

There will be reservations but the youngster has a lot to offer the Toffees. Everton have lacked a suitable replacement and a quality partner for Jelavic.

With the steel of Darron Gibson and Marouane Fellaini in midfield, the Blues are more than capable of adopting a more attacking 4-4-2. A tall, strong forward, Castaignos would be the perfect foil for Jelavic’s more subtle qualities.

The U19 international is clearly an ambitious young man and Everton are currently in a better position to meet his expectations. West Ham are very much a Premier League club, but make no mistake, Sam Allardyce ’s priority will be survival.

Equally, Mark Hughes will be keen to ensure the club do not suffer the dreaded ‘second season syndrome’. Everton on the other hand will be looking to reduce the gap on the clubs occupying the Champions League places.

If he lives up to the hype then you would expect him to be a good Premier League striker. At the moment, he is perhaps lacking the quality needed to play in Europe, but Everton are best placed to help him achieve this.

QPR and West Ham could rightly claim that they would give the forward the chance to showcase his capabilities, but for how long? If he performs it’s likely that he would be snapped up by a bigger club. At his best Castaignos would be playing regularly for all three teams. But this is a player who has been tipped as a start of the future.

Like Everton he has aspirations to be playing with Europe’s elite and the club can provide him with the platform to do what is expected of him. Scoring regularly for a club looking to establish themselves in Europe.
