Lua Lua in free role behind strikers? - WBA game

  1. Lua Lua i think was alright vs Chelsea. It's true he was a bit over run at times, but it was him skinning Invanovic and crossing the ball into the box that lead to Ryan Taylor heading the ball and almost scoring. Unfortunately John Terry was in the way, but never the less, Taylor scored from the corner.

I think playing Lua Lua on a specific wing wouldn't be a great idea, he's alot like Ben Arfa/Nzogbia, an attacking player that will aid the strikers, but one that also play through balls and crosses from either side.
I believe a free role will give him more freedom and the ability to show us how talented he really his.

I'd personally like to see this line up vs WBA -

    ---Best/Ameobi-------Lover--------

    -------------Lua Lua-------------

    Ferguson-----Barton---------Raylor

    Enrique--Colo-----Taylor-----Simmo

    --------------Krul----------------

    Subs:

    Shola Amoebi/Best
    Sammy Ameobi
    Smith
    Tavernier
    Ranger
    Soddeburg

My head was screaming a draw the second Jonas was confirmed injured, but now Odemwinge and Tamas have been confirmed out, i'm a little more confident.

    I reckon a hard fought win 2-1.

Would like that, but howay man, it's Pardew therefore boring 4-4-2, Raylor and Barton in the centre with probably LuaLua or Lovenkrands on the wing with Shola and Ranger/Lovenkrands up top.

Can't see it happening and I think LuaLua is better off in HIS NATURAL POSITION as a WINGER! Tash I bet you only got this idea because of Guti's position against Chelsea on Sunday were he was playing in the ''hole'' or ''free role'' or whatever you call it. <ok>

I can see LuaLua playing but not in that role.

I'd plonk Tiote in. It's the last game and it would give us a more solid balance if we could get Raylor and Fergie out wide, with Joey and Tiote in the middle. Then 2 up front.

Lua Lua is an out and out winger. I seen him a few times for Brighton and he always looked to beat his man with his pace and get to the byline to get in a cross. (Good free kick on him too)

I think you're overrating him personally.

Raylor and Barton in the middle for me. They did well v Chelsea so more of the same. Fergie on the left, not sure about the right. Plus I wouldn't start Lua Lua, he's only had a few minutes in the first team since his broken leg. Definately bring him on as a sub tho.

Good news if Odemwhathisface is out.

    I'd like to see:

    ------------------Krul---------------
    Simmo-----Collo---Saylor----Jose
    LuaLua--Barton--Richardson--Fergie
    -----------Ranger--Best-----------

Subs: Soderberg, Kadar, Tavernier, Raylor, Inman, Sammy, Lovenkrands

Nah, we need two CM's. Barton would get swamped on his own.

  10. No, i didn't just get that idea because Jonas played there against Chelsea. I got the idea when i saw Lua Lua's flair running towards the box and attacking the Chelsea defense, then skinning their defender and crosses a ball in. He wasn't coming in from the winger, he was running around the centre towards the box.

Lua Lua would be wasted on the wing IMO. He'd be better running with the strikers and attacking the back four, slotting players through. He's more of a Ben Arfa than a Jonas <ok>

You're entitled to your opinon but don't assume that my ideas are based of things like that.

I got the same impression with Ben Arfa when we played him on the left wing and he kept drifting into the centre and running at the defense.

Fair enough I see what you mean. I just don't see it happening now or even in the future for that case(Ben Arfa's currently in a different level compared to him). I'll like LuaLua to go out on a season-long loan at a CC team like Brighton(obvious), maybe send Ranger/Airey to them as well seeing as how we are on good terms with them? Maybe send Kadar as well? <ok>

From that you somehow managed to understand his game and also note that he's some sort of magician of through balls? ****ing hell, Pardew, sign him up.

Also I'd say he's currently more of a Routledge than a Ben Arfa or a Gutierrez

  14. I think Lua Lua and Ferguson should both say as they're both capable of being on the subs bench and can put in a decent shift. Ferguson especially.

Ranger, Airey, Vuckic, Forster, Sammy Ameobi and Richardson on loan <ok>

Let the lad have a go at the basics first before trying him out in new positions. He's a winger, not one that 'drifts into the middle' but a winger who likes to take on his man with pace, takes shots at goal and cross the ball in quite well. His style of play is exciting BUT he's not quite up to Prem standard in my opinion, at least not where he'll be blowing us away. If he can perform as well as Routledge then it'd be a massive surprise but let's not heap the pressure on him at this age.

Next season, assuming we don't loan him out again, give him some sub appearances and possibly a few starts in the earlier stages of the cups. He's got massive potential but as much as he seems sure of himself, I don't feel he's upto the responsiblity of a 'free role' and would more than likely become lost without a precise job to do.

Bring him on at 70mins, have him run down the wing with fresh legs and ping a few balls in for the strikers. He's not fully recovered from his injury so let's not demoralise him by giving him too much to do too soon. <ok>

From him being able to cross a ball in you want to move him out of wide areas... genius.
