Assuming tonight was Big Sam's suicide note, that just leaves us and Villa as the only teams down there to stick with their managers (unless Swansea are serious contenders for the drop, which no one seems to believe). Reading stuff online, it seems that Lambert may well be for the chop if he doesn't get a few results and quickly. So that may leave us as the only club who haven't hit the eject button. I guess time will tell if that is admirable or stupid.
I think Lambert's situation would have to worsen rapidly before he'd get the chop. Supposedly he's in daily contact with Randy Lerner who has completely bought into his idea of using youth rather than expensive talent. Lerner doesn't want to put huge sums into the club any more, so he'd want a manager prepared to work under a very similar brief, which might not be easy to find. I think Villa would need to be in the relegation zone, with the fans all against Lambert irrevocably, before a change would be made. Personally I hope they leave it until after the window to make a change, as I don't think another manager would get the same out of those players as Lambert does, there's not a lot of quality in that squad really, with the exceptions of Agbonlahor, Guzan and Benteke really.
I think Sunderland gifting them the winner at the week-end has given him more time, but a lot of their fans are certainly not happy.
Lerner won't sack lambert until at least the summer, he always waits until the summer regardless of performance and fan reaction.
