Most mega rich people have loyalty to their wealth and do not take lightly to people wasting it on their behalf, which leads me to the old conundrum, why does PC put up with the total, utter rubbish that the team that he has bankrolled dish up every game, home and away. Which leads me of course to Pulis, even his most ardent disciples and as Smithers puts it, subscribers to salacious websites cannot accept the level we have all witnessed, if anybody has a negative view of him, out comethe old diatribes, look where we are now. Right, let's just look where we are now - in freefall, a manager who has totally lost the plot, no alternative to plan A extraordinary team selection, no team spirit, rapidly losing all respect and credibility with the fanbase AND previously positive football 'pundits' You guys who know me on here, will (hopefully) accept that this is NOT a knee jerk reaction to a couple of results, it is however the result of 3 seasons of regression. As I said on another thread, every year after Christmas in the PL, one team goes into freefall - this season it is US, thanks to Pulis. Get shot of him NOW, get somebody in who can motivate our £90 million squad and play football, if we go down, so be it, but let's do it with 'aving a go' rather than rather than the pathetic excuse for football that we currently play
Nick - you dont need me to jump on the band wagon as your thread echoes my thoughts! But you make a very interesting point in relation to Coates (or any business man) and the money issues - I have a theory! Maybe and just maybe its not TP's fault and we have all been misguided in staling his abilty and decessions! Maybe its Coates who picks the team and sets out the tactics and TP is just the YES man? Would explain alot of things! If its not that then I'm fuked if I know why he puts up witn it?
Smithers, never would accuse you of jumping on ANY bandwagon, you are your own man and have your own consistent opinions. Tell you what mate, that's an interesting theiory you put forward, I mean to say, there must be some rationale behind it all. Do you think that Coates is using Stoke City as a tax loss???? Hmmmm - remember the thread re Redknapp - surely not
I don't think that PC will stand by TP for ever, especially as the Firm that provides our money will soon pass to his Children in its entirety. It's a good point about establishing a tax loss, so how about tempting the real Mourinho and giving him the £150m warchest, plus whatever he can get for selling the bunch that TP has saddled us with - that should bring in another £15m? Only joking - we are stuck with TP to the end of the season, but if we survive, I hope that PC has a good hard look at the tripe that TP is now turning out EVERY week, and makes a proper business decision, Forget all the talk of 3 year plans - leopard's do not change their spots and we will never see any change in the current way of playing under TP. For ther first time in a long time, I will think hard about splahing out over a £1000 for season tickets if this is the standard of football that I am going to have to witness. There may be a few others who think that way, and it may be the reality check that those in power at SCFC may take note of.
I made that decession at the end of last season! And I think I stuck it out a season more that most of the people who were sitting on those seats 4 or 5 years earlier!
I made that decision at Christmas time when I gave my Boxing Day party up to watch absolute rubbish football against Villa. I've already told the wife that whilst TP is at the helm of my beloved club I'm no longer lining Coates's pockets. I'm Stoke through and through but enough is enough for me. The only way TP will go is if the fans vote with their feet. Coates is a Stokie and loves the club and he will do what he thinks is best. His chidren however are business people and they will do what is right for the club from a business point of view. It was myself last season that said I think that the club is being used for tax loss purposes and I still believe that!
Come on guys lets get real here !! We all know TP pix the side e is that man ! He doesnt work any other way ! Stoke goin Bankrupt neva gonna happen with Coates Family at the helm .. remember whatever they spend is profit from a massive empire that is not going downbank but is on an upward curve ! The only puzzler to me at the mo is the team selection FFS LETS AV AGO ! Fulham today away they are no great shakes home or away played ata snails pace by Murphy .. but yes we let im play at that pace and paid for it ! The mind boggles ! UTP
Nick Nothing new I have to add really and I'm of the same oppinion as Waddo I think? My first season ticket was purchased in 62 I was nine years old and from that day forth, I have always loved my club... Only for TWO seasons have I not shelled out hard earned money and that was when my two girls were under five years old. Many on here will say.. so what, dozens more have supported the team for as long, if not longer than I have. That's fair enough but.. I am seriously debating if or not to renew my ticket next season. I am sick to the back teeth of Mr Pulis, his smug interviews, his whinging which, half the time is absolute BULL**** IMHO. There is so much negativity around me in the Boothen End it's almost like going to a different stadium compared to a couple of seasons ago?? I am sure that Mr Coates is no fool, Millionaries are not stupid, they are shrewd and if I am correct? I think that Mr Coate's daughter works alongside him now. His wealth is there for all to see, no way will we go bankrupt... But, all the money on God's earth when not spent correctly, will not keep us up this season. Something is badly wrong inside the club. It's doing my fecking head in and NO ONE seem's to question Tony Pulis from the Chairman down. HOW many other clubs go through patches like we have and NOTHING is said publically. Those who say... look, we've done this, that Europe don't be fooled by the situation in which we now find ourselves. Week after week I plead on here for Mr Pulis to play the right player's.. Play with two wingers and have a real go at teams.. but NO. Same old garbage is trolled out by a Manager who seem's devoid of idea's, I honestly can not remember the last time both Pennant and Etherington started and finished a game for us? A 7 million pound + player who is not given a run of games because it's too hot, too cold or too effin windy? I could go on all night but we've all been here a hundred times before. I have ALWAYS believed that, we would stay up since day one of promotion honestly I have. NOW? Put it this way those who think Tony Pulis is some kind of hero. IF and right now, it's possible we did GO DOWN. What would those who seem to think that Tony Pulis can do no wrong say then? Like Nick, my post is not even close to a knee jerk reation to today's result, not even last weekends loss to Sunderland.. I'm just fed up with the CRAP footie, a manager who it's obvious does not even now know what his best team is. But the WORST thing for me is simple. There is no passion in that team any longer. You can not only see it, you can feel it. Fans are not stupid Mr Pulis and if those who sit close to me every home game are anything to go by.. I suggest you do one of two things. START right now and put out our BEST player's v Valencia and bloody go at them, win or lose I don't CARE. And keep doing that every week from now on in. OR, walk now because I've seen and heard enough CRAP this season. i will stick with the lads this season, after which I honestly don't know. Once a Stokie always a Stokie.. and WE we're HERE before YOU Mr PULIS. As for why things are how they are Nicky, sorry I went off tack slightly... I don't have a clue mate none of us do. I don't think Mr Coates will give T.P. that much to spend in the Summer either. 90 million give or take for what? Right now mid table garbbage footie and going nowhere fast!
Morning Nicky Will let you know what I think of our chances of staying up are.... After the Norwich and Swansea games at HOME. It's always hard supporting Stoke City but this? It's great for constipation, but not for the faint hearted. Not in real trouble YET. In my oppinion but would rather be US than Blackburn, Wigan and Bolton.
Even in my most negative of states I cant see any of the bottom 4 catching us, but that is not a reason for the manager to stay either! 2008/2009 (45 Points) 12th Place: Won 12 & Lost 17 - Cut Off 35 Points 2009/2010 (47 Points) 11th Place: Won 11 & Lost 13 - Cut Off 35 Points 2010/2011 (46 Points) 13th Place: Won 13 & Lost 18 - Cut Off 40 Points 2011/2012 (45 Points) 13th Place: Won 12 & Lost 17 - Cut Off 32 Points (These figures are based on the current averages and do not take into account FORM!!!!!!) This working out (although primitive) suggests that we will be fine and only need 1 more win - or in TP speak 3 x 0-0 draws - to avoid the drop! I personally think that we will struggle to get 45 points this year and that the cut off will in the high 30's but if we just go on the figures as they are it shows us one thing and one thing only! NO PROGESSION and infact our best season was our 2nd! We are also on target to have the worst goal difference since we got promoted and as usual we languish at the bottom of the league for goals scored: 15th Place - WB 29 Goals For (GD -6) 16th Place - Wolves 28 Goals For (GD -21) 17th Place - QPR 27 Goals For (GD -17) 18th Place - Everton 26 Goals For (GD -1) 19th Place - Stoke 24 Goals For (GD -14) 20th Place - Wigan 23 Goals For (GD -27) And this has been the same issue since we got promoted and with all the money spent, MR PULIS has FAILED to address the fundemetal issue within our team! NOW UPDATED AFTER TODAYS WB & WOLVES DERBY!
Potts and Smithers, completely agree with you both and I will thank the lord for those 4 teams mentioned. I never wish relegation on many teams, but wouldn't it be nice if QPR stay where they are today!!
With the exception of Norwich all the newly promoted sides beat us this season and beat us convincingly. The draw with norwich was against the run of play too as they were easily the better side on the day even though we did miss a penalty. What has happened is that Pulis brought a side up from the championship that were a side full of grafters that dug in and worked hard to grind out results that just about got us by. Now he has spent a few quid on so called more expensive type flare playing professionals he does not know how to use them. Sadly I am not renewing my season ticket for next season which will be the first time in many many years but I will still go to the odd game. If in the meantime by some act of magic Pulis gets the vacant England job (mad letter in yesterday's evening sentinel), I will renew my ticket. I think it's the only way to get messr's Coates and colleagues to sit up and listen to the fans as enough is clealry enough. Sick of watching this garbage week in and week out!
I read that aswell and I split my fukin ribs laughin (Which hurt like hell because I slipped a disc a few days ago) at that. To be fair I thought is was Nick with one of his satirical piss takes, but then I realised that there are some real ******s out there who actually think TP is in the same league as Fegie, Wenger, Rednapp, Morinho, Scholari(?), Pep etc.... However, I can honestly say that I am glad that I live in the real world - outside the plannet Uranus (TP's that is)!
Thanks for that info Smithers, I was thinking of doing the same myself. On current form, I agree, we will get fewer points than previously. Goals win games and our scoring is appalling given the strikers we have on the books together with TWO wingers. Our once solid defence is conceding too many so we need to score more freely. I watch Swansea and Norwich and they play with more flair, create chances and put the ball in the net. Why? Tactics IMO. Pulis too negative which given the goals conceded is pointless (literally!) I have not advocated 'Pulis Out' but surely he cannot hope to continue playing as we are without seriously damaging our chances of staying in the PL over coming seasons.
Smither's thanks for that info the league teams, as it stands as of today?? This season has to be our worst defensivly since promotion. And just to pick up on Waddo's comment. Norwich away, they were robbed simple as.. Baggie's away.. Shotton with injury time goal.. Spurs we got the win but?? HOW I will never know. It's so bloddy obvious that Pulis SHOULD play with both wingers. IF I get time on Monday I will write a thread on player's in our squad, re appearances starting, as sub NOT playing etc.. It will be interesting too see just how many times both Ether's and Pennant have started the same game and both finish it? I HATE to be so negative guys but I honestly think that the Valencia game is one we should ALL ENJOY on Thursday night? SO should our PLAYER'S. Please go out there, give it your'e best and that... Is all any of us actually want to see. We did that first couple of seasons and WOW it was a howl of a time.. now, like the rest on here I am at a loss as to WHAT Mr Coates or Mr Pulis will do to get us.. "Back on track" I think it's a sell out on Thursday. Let's raise the roof and GET behind the TEAM guys.
On the flip side about Pulis spending uncle Peters money, do you really believe that we have spent between 70-90 million? I think the income over the past 3 1/2 seasons off just the sky money + finishing position money off the FA, will probably cover that amount spent & more. Everyone just looks at the outgoings & not the income, bit of shortsightedness if you ask me.
