...outnumbered today by the star-struck big game charlies who turn up when their club plays someone from the top half of the Premiership. Suspend the boycott there's a good team coming!
It really is small-time how they get so excited about playing a PL team in the cups and raise their game, everyone turns up and sings, all a bit sad really. Maybe our fans would be the same if we ever got big teams in the cup, I don't know.
It worked when we were in the PL, I could only get a ticket against the **** teams like Pompey, I saw more away games than home games in the PL, admittedly most were closer to me in Lancs at the time.
I've always enjoyed knocking Leeds even in the days when they had pretensions of being a big club and could afford to bribe their opponents. Old habits die hard.
Exactly Agro. Its just like averaging 15k all season and then having 50% extra when Leeds come to town. And thats just for an average Championship side visiting rather than a Champions League elect team. I'd call it a day on this one if I were you.....
Not sure how you worked that one out. They average over 21k, there were only 29k there today, take into account the large away following then the number of extra Leeds fans could only have been 5k tops. Not sure how 5k outnumbers 21k, any reason to have a dig I guess, even if your argument is complete bollocks.
Thank god this doesn't look like bitterness because they beat Spurs and are in the next round and we got done by Barnsley.
We are exactly the same as every other team, we have whingers, moaners & gloaters. When we do well, our fans will be all over the place, when we do ****, they'll try & get something from another team & turn it around to be a negative. We do have "glory" fans, this was proved by the PL years, they all suddenly can afford a season ticket to see the likes of Man Utd home & away, but when it's back in the Championship, it's a different story.
I thought there would be a comment or two! I'm old enough to remember in the mid 70s living in Hull watching HCFC when crowds averaged about 5000 to 6000 in 2nd Div (equivalent to the Championship today) Fans are fickle at most clubs. In leeds's case that also true, however you ŷhave to remember, and understand, that there are many Leeds fans who have been voting with their feet because of K Bates/hoofball/no funds/tiring stadium facilities. I personally stopped going though when O Leary was manager, having been a ST holder for many years, because of football's increasingly 'He who spends, wins culture'. Went a few times when in league 2 which was quite refreshing but havent been at all since we were promoted to the Championship. Im from Leeds originally BTW, I listen on the radio and watch on tv in the pub (like today) but don't miss going really. Glad Hull are doing well though, have bit of a soft spot for them
