We have already failed against Shrewsbury, Rochdale, Wimbledon, and now Plymouth, all are incredibly bad teams who have made us look like non-league cloggers. Can we raise our game against Bradford, will the players actually close down the opposition, will SL give up on the diamond, will Lidl suffer after brexit ? Whilst I don't expect to win every game even against the poorer teams, I do expect to see us go down fighting, we haven't got the most talented squad of players but they can overcome a lot of teams with hard work, sadly that was a commodity lacking at Plymouth.
Probably thinking...after Portsmouth and Doncaster...job done. No way......getting reallllly frustrated.
I've just seen this... Gillingham chairman Paul Scally offers free tickets after 'embarrassing' defeat. Hmmm...I'm guessing the managers days are drawing to a close. As for Bradford, I'm amazed after many seasons of being a decent side that they are stuck bottom of the league. Well until they swap places with us on Saturday
Won't be the first time in recent years that we have lost to the team in bottom place in consecutive games..... ..... ps - as for SL - I did write in an earlier thread that he would be gone before the end of October (( will be gone before I finish my next camel ride ))
This game probably has Bradford as favourites to win:- Bradford away...….played 7..won 2..for 7..against 12..GD -5..points 6. (19th in the away form table) Gillingham home....played 6..won 1..for 7..against 13..GD -6..points 4. (22nd in the home form table) Can we get RCC back and win this one.
Really think Gills need to win or Lovell could be gone. I said in pre season things were looking like when JED was in charge we were going the same way. End of last season was really bad. Beating Plymouth last game gave us hope and couple of early wins this season looked promising but only 1 win in 12 is relagation form
We have the players on the books to do a half decent job as was shown in the first two games and away at Pompey. Having lost, due to injury, our most creative players is a huge loss......especially in a small squad otherwise bereft of any real talent as shown by recent results. Budget team budget results....a far cry from the days when Asaba and Taylor joined us when we were a middle ground Div 3 side. No ambition, no investment and no prospects. Sad but true.......
Honestly this is an honest opinion and not just a platitude because we won a game. Your side were not at all a bad side and I have seen a number of worse performances at Home Park this season by various clubs that have played poorly and they have won. This game we clicked and it went for us instead of the other way and I suppose it makes you seem poor. It wasn't like that. The one thing that stood out for me was the lack of hitting the floor and rolling around by either side. It was an honest game and although one or two things were a bit dodgy and not quite within the rules the Ref let them play and they got on with it. You did your fair share of attacking even if the final effort wasn't quite there. The 3 goals we scored were worthy of the name and none of them were flooky. The build up and execution were as we would want them to be and most teams would have had a problem defending them. Your Chairman does your club a disservice with his free ticket rubbish and if your Manager is deflecting anything towards your players then he is as deluded as our's has been with pushing the blame for losing anywhere else but his own door.
So quite possibly PS looking for reasons to get rid of SL, whether legitimate or not. What it most definitely does do, with 5 home games to come in the next 2 1/2 weeks, is to focus the fans' attention to the way the team is playing, in the knowledge that it won't take much dissatisfaction for PS to answer any fans' demands for a change, having prepared the ground himself. As most fans won't have seen the actual performance on Tuesday they won't be able to be as understanding as you. That said, a friend's brother who went to the game reported that we were really poor and lucky not to lose by a lot more.
I think what makes it easy to come up with the poor assessment is that Argyle have been playing terribly so far this season and there would have been some expectation given our record so far that it was 3 points in the bag. I can't blame anyone for thinking that the way the season has gone so far and from what I had seen up to Tuesday night. With an expectation of a result and then not to get one but be outplayed by us would give the impression you were poor. I honestly don't think you were. Obviously you weren't fantastic given the result but poor is not doing anyone any justice either your players or ours. I have seen poor believe me and I have seen us lose to a poor side this season before now. I have no idea what your owner has in his mind regarding your Manager. Does sound a bit like he is making his reasoning if he gets rid easier and it won't be him who has any blame attached. There again what's new in the owner handbook or the Manager handbook either for that matter. Seldom do either hold their hand up to anyting except praise if there is any going. Always take the glory but never any blame do they.
It's like a contageous disease spreading everywhere. I see the Bradford manager has now appologised to the fans for the wholely unacceptable way his players did against Gillingham on Saturday. You know how it feels now to have your victory rubished by the opposition. You weren't any good it was just them being crap..................
Sensiblegreeny, in fairness to the Bradford manager they were the better team in the first half, second half we just ran away with it. Now! where it gets difficult is determining why, were they really good in the first half, was it that we were really bad in the first half, and the same in the second half were we just too good for them, or did the nerves set in and they started playing badly. I think the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle as it does in most matches, sometimes a game will swing on a poor ref decision, a lucky bounce, a deflected goal, all of which can alter the course of a game, especially with teams low on confidence.
