Premier League - Liverpool 'fail in £20m Lovren bid, player hands in transfer request' Southampton defender Dejan Lovren is expected to go on strike to force a move to Liverpool, according to the Southern Daily Echo. 3 July 2014 13:06 Eurosport Dejan Lovren and predictable unpredictability Date published: Saturday 26th December 2015 7:08 please log in to view this image A lot has been said about Lovern, I think Klopp is getting the best out of him. After yesterday's performance, do you think he has a future in Liverpool?. Please vote.
No he doesn't. He did have a good performance yesterday, but it wasn't great. Still some poor positional errors and gave away a very silly free kick. However, if he can play at that level regularly, he may have a place on the bench but that's a best case scenario. A new RCB should be priority in January.
We need CBs right now. Most importantly we need consistency and a regular central pairing. We have Sakho and Lovren good to go so if we can get them working somewhat well together for the rest of the season - with all of the flaws that entails (mostly in the form of Lovren) - then at least get some stability at the back. Klopp and co. can coach them up to perform better, Lovren is still a bag o ****e but he hasn't done a howler for a while so Klopp seems to be having an effect. Then in the summer, in the proper transfer window so we can get a CB we actually want, do something about it and sell Lovren and Skrtel I reckon.
Right now I'd still give Lovren another season to prove himself, but I'd also sign 2 CB's, getting rid of Skrtel and Toure. Lovren suits a high line better than Skrtel and balances with Sakho better. But he would more likely be second choice until gomez is ready to take over full time.
no Lovren shouldnt have a future with us, luckily for him though we have 2 CB's who we should be getting rid of before him, costing the club 20 mill he will be given more time than most or he should be given though sadly, whether we like it or not.
Skrtel enjoyed this luxury for years. He survived by default because we had other areas that needed sorting before him.
Even Sakho is too injury prone to be relied on so yes I'd be happy with two new centre backs as long as they are decent and keep Skrtel and one of Lovren/Sakho as back up
For me the question is good enough for what? What's our ambition? The 20 mil fee is gone so getting all heated about that is utterly pointless. What can he do for us? Sub? Play rcb? Would you want toure in various Sunderland instead of him? For me he is a decent player but not top 4, he's a long way off that. Again a confidence player that when let go do what he does he's good. I don't see both sahko and lovern playing as they both want to go attack stuff. There's nobody there like a carragher to organise and dig in.
I don't think he's good enough. Eighteen months of turd tells us that. However, he's had a couple of decent performances since Klopp arrived so maybe he can turn it around? Certainly needs more than one or two decent games though, he needs to string a dozen or so together with the odd great display too.
LFCCTV: Lovren's dominant Boxing Day display v Leicester Steve Hunter Dejan Lovren enjoyed an excellent return from injury as he helped Liverpool claim a clean sheet in the Boxing Day win over Leicester City, and the Croatian international is the focus of our LFCCTV video from the game. The No.6 won every header and made some fantastic tackles as the Reds got back to winning ways in the top-flight. Lovren was an absolute rock at the back and now LFCTV GO subscribers can take a closer look at his performance by clicking play above http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/fir...ren-s-dominant-boxing-day-display-v-leicester
Once Klopp gets us playing how he wants us to play, I think Lovren will fit in very well. Lovren is a capable CB in the right system. A 4231 system that offers protection to the defence with the two holding players. This is also how Saints played for his one great season with them. Question is, can Lovren improve his performances in the mean time to give him a chance when that time comes. Still think we can do much better but Klopp may see other positions and players (to move on) as bigger priorities. I think Toure is first (CB ) out with Skrtel second.
if migs hadn't made some very good saves, we would have said it was same ****e again from lovren. yes he made some good clearances but feck me how much does he get paid to do the basics of what his job is!!
Has to end of the season to prove himself, as do a lot of players. I'd rather see him in than Skrtel, and if he keeps himself fit he'll be there for the next couple of months if a CB isn't brought in January. Let's be fair to him, he's been GOOD since Klopp came in, CONSISTENTLY. That's just an honest opinion, and he's looked good alongside Sakho whenever they've played, they have the makings of a good partnership but despite the obvious ability Sakho has, he gets himself in trouble by doing too much. Not a bad thing at the moment, we need players with the courage and characters to stick to a philosophy and try things, just maybe not at CB. I'm OK with a back four off Clyne, Sakho, Lovren and Moreno for now, long-term we'll need to add some more quality.
Lovren and Sakho are the only CBs in the PL who have kept a clean sheet against Leicester Stones shipped 3 goals to them Because he is ****e
Agreed. I do think it was Lovren's best performance for us and credit to him. But the praise is over the top. It was a 7/10 performance. He still made some big errors as did Sakho - but thankfully we weren't punished. Since Klopp has come in, he looks a bit more comfortable. He has stilled looked shaky but the difference is he's now better protected. Now this is a good thing because the midfield is doing a better job but all it's doing is masking other problems. Under Rodgers, defenders were not protected but someone like Sakho was still able to do his job to a high level. We need players who can perform their roles without having to rely on others to protect them. Applies to everyone in the team.
