I used to like this forum up until the last few days
I detect a smugness, an arrogance by the "elite" members
an us and them within the same set of supporters
we are the flock wallpaper on which they hang their masterpieces
we are the murmur in the restaurant while the glittering conversation is being tossed around at the top table
there has to be a river in order to swim upstream
has it turned into an old boy's club?

Stick with it twins, the boredom of the close season is not bringing out the best in people.

I miss the old site, as I used it for cricket, boxing and horse racing. Plus a few of the old faces have disappeared and I don't mean ABITB!

Don't know about that lads, everyone's equal here. ............As long as they're QPR.:emoticon-0100-smile
And agreed Eddie, it's a much better site than 606, the best of the alternatives and should win the most posters.

Twins - do you want to be an individual voicing your opinion or follow the flock?
For me this site is a bit like being in gang (not that I am in one per - say unless being QPR fan is classed as being in a gang).........a few members may irriatate, but the majority of comments are worthwhile. It is a good way to share information, and I think that QPR as a whole probably have a voice on here or at least read some of the comments written - they would be daft not to. And as North say, we are all QPR (for our sins) fans - our blood is blue and white, we all want QPR to do well, and we all have in our minds the players we want at Loftus Rd this coming season.
When we do encounter banter with our clubs fans, ie Dragon or Thai canary, every now and again they do come out with something funny
Stick with it - just take some comments with a pinch of salt. If NW can put up with Bernie, Flav and Paladini and the tantrums of a certain Mr A Taarabt..................

Hopefully not twins.

I take it from your references that my recent thread might have triggered at least some if not most of your concerns.

If that is the case, then I'm really sorry it came across in that way. An elitist 'masterpiece' was never, ever the intention. In fact the complete opposite is true.

The purpose of the thread was to help alleviate our current boredom and frustrations, and use this dry period to address a number of issues raised on various threads that appeared to me to be dividing us, beyond our love for the club and concerns for its future. It was intended to be inclusive as opposed to exclusive: a 'bonder' if you like.

As for masterpiece... hardly. It started as a response to an attempt at a reply to another thread as shown. I decided to turn it into a thread when the implications of what I was trying to say to Swords appeared to be becoming too broad, involving other concerns I'd picked up elsewhere. I just thought, let's get a discussion going as to what's valid and what's not. These concerns particularly involved stuff around Eamon's reaction to a tease by Northolt and me, and Willy's case against Andrew's 'excesses'.

I also apologise if my natural wordiness is mistaken for 'smugness', arrogance or anything similar. It's actually a default of mine that I've been trying to correct without too much success for years.

All in all, from the replies etc. received, I thought the thread had worked pretty well... until I saw your comments!

Not sure where to go with this 'top table' malarkey. Never really been on one before and don't intend to start now. I think the 'old boys' thing is a bit premature given Northolt's first wave (including you and me) have only been on not606 since late March! It's simply a familiarity thing that will pass as soon as the more recent 606er's on here make their presence felt and characters apparent.

As said in the thread and in agreement with Eddie here, I think our board's coming on very well. However, your concerns aren't lost on me twins. Unfamiliar territory. Believe me, I'll have the words smug, elite, masterpiece, old boys network and top table at the back of my mind when considering my contributions in future.

All members views made in good faith should be respected... and generally, on this forum, they are - which is a reflection on the quality of contributors and Northolt as mod.

I suffer from 'posts, points and level' envy. Because I travel a lot I can't contribute as often as I would like but when I do join in my comments are of exceptional quality of course. But here I am well down the pecking order because those who have been let out of school early are able to contribute one-liners and the dancing bloke icon as part of some puerile Welsh bashing exercise. It's just not on I tell you!

If I was Lakshmi Mittal I could probably buy the points I needed to restore my self esteem (but then probably decide it wasn't worth the money). If I was Flavio I would probably bribe Northolt to give me more. Or if I was Paladini I could just demand more points at gunpoint. But as just plain ol' QPAAAAAGH I have no such options and my gems of wit and wisdom carry less weight than Bernie Eccleston's Stanna Stairlift.

BTW the best thing to come out of Wales is clearly Laverbread which is of course boiled seaweed. Nuff said.

Ironically, I think this thread has actually highlighted some of what Brixton said. A relatively unassuming comment was posted, which has lead to an interesting exchange of views, not a series of people agreeing, in other words “Free Thinking”. This would get pretty boring if everyone agreed all the time, indeed Brixton was encouraging people to not hesitate to voice their views if they were different to those already expressed.
I guess that we all have posters who we look out for, and topics that we find more interesting. Personally I’m bored with the “Why haven’t we signed any one yet?”, “Please buy someone” threads and do not like pointless wumming, however respect the rights of other contributors to post them. I tried to step back when the transfer hysteria was at its height, but found my addiction to this site too strong and returned sooner than I intended. I did try to start a couple of threads on different themes but neither really flew, but that won’t stop me trying again.
The site will be whatever we make it. If you have a point of view, express it, just don’t expect everyone to agree.

To be honest I've not noticed any "clickyness" no such word I know, but you get my drift. I've already stated on other threads that this is so much better than the BBC incarnation. This is now the first place I go to when I log on, the banter is good, OK some of the wind ups of other clubs supporters may go a bit far, but that's the poster's prerogative, to write what they like. If I don't like it, doesn't make it wrong.
Similarly, you may all think my post's are total rubbish, if so fine, I don't have a problem with that. It won't stop me posting. I can hear the groans from here!

It's "clique" (blame the French!) and I've not noticed any either.
