First one of the year, should be interesting to get a rough idea of who did the best job and how the rookies/drivers switching teams do.....
Gone Oscar,an Ozzie has to win his home race sooner or laler and Piastri has the car and he`s cool enough under home fans pressure to do it.
Would love to see Oscar win it, I have a horrible feeling McLaren might be a lot more dominant than the media want us to think - so we really need there to be intra team competition if we’re to have a championship. If not that it would be awesome to see Antonelli get a debut win.
A Sauber in tenth, suggests the headline times aren’t that representative, but there does seem to be surprising speed in the RB cars over both short and long runs. Much closer to Williams and the front of the midfield than testing suggested.
Until that last session I was really hopeful that we genuinely had 4 closely matched teams. That may still be generally true, as the track seemed to really ramp up at the end and McLaren, Williams and RB seemed to really benefit from that, much more than the others. Tsunoda on a mission and great to see Williams outperform Ferrari, a pity it wasn’t Sainz, for full “curse of Carlos Sainz” effect! I see rain is predicted for tomorrow and I do predict a complete Ferrari strategic meltdown at some point this year, so maybe the this is just the pre-“curse”r (sorry - couldn’t resist it!) to the main event!?
Hope Zak Brown has had some serious talks to Oscar and Lando about going into turn one at the start of the race. Oscar certainly not averse to pulling a fast one on Lando......Think Monza last year
