Our Louis is 36, will be 37 next season and in my opinion he is our most resolute defender, what will SOD do, allow him to go, give him an extension of a year because without him we are in **** street and action is required urgently.

Our defence has more holes than a tea bag, we are desperate for 2 central defenders or am I just a complete bloody idiot and imagining things...?

Minus Carey City would have been relegated last season. This season if he had not been overlooked again by the out of his depth McInnes City would be in a better state.

Best centre half at the club? Carey. Light on quality at centre half? Yes. Let him go and City need x2/3 replacements.

I thank Louis for his years to the club, and he has been a loyal servant. But if he gets another year then it will be the wrong decision. We need as LAN says fresh faces, I think if Louis never signed that extension this year the board or manager (because some will blame Del) would of gone out and got a replacement.
If we are relying on a 36, 37 year old then what hope do we really have?

People are over looking the way the club is going to have to cut its cloth with the wage bill. Write down the names of the centre halves decide who is better than carey [ they are not] them start doing some maths on how much replacements and cover will cost for what city have not got and what may be let go. It could be four or five players!!! What McInnes did show is how hard it is to find quality players at prices city can afford because the loans cost much more than Louis Carey.

Until there are players at City who will hold down regular places, and can perform to adequate levels I would give Carey another contract. Louis Carey has filled the role of an ever dependable coming into the team when starting XI's are injured. Drawback is City don't have the starting XI.

Louis Carey is what Bristol City should be all about. If only we had another 11 players with his commitment and love of our shirt we would't be in this mess.

The one club players are disappearing from the football world only to be replaced with self-centred, money grabbing, agent handled and couldn't care less about the shirt idiots.

Perhaps one day someone at the top of the football management ladder will realise that players like Louis Carey are to be treasured because they are what the game is all about.

Thank you Louis for being a true City legend.

If we keep him, it will just continue to paper over the cracks.
We have four central defenders who are definitely not Championship standard and all of them must be replaced.
Carey is still our best defender but that shows how poor the others are.
James Wilson three years ago appeared to be a very good prospect, but he has had so little game time since that his development as a Championship player simply has not happened - lesson here for City with Bryan, Reid, Burns and any other under 21 with potential; don't give them any opportunities and they will not progress.
Fontaine has had an appalling year with miskicks and soft goals down to him; yesterday's second goal mainly due to Jams Wilson being wrong side of Rhodes but fonts should have been in a position as his centre half colleague to cover Wilson but could not as he was to far apart.
Nyatanga; No pace, not dominant in the air and too often outwitted on the floor.

Four new central defenders needed NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok then on this philosophy we should give Louis another 3 years contract because if we can't buy any more defenders to replace the dross we have, then we are going to need him!

Players like Carey are far too comfortable at the club.. we need more younger better players.. not players who know however they perform they'll still be in/out of the team

Hunger, desire, passion allied to willingness to get injured is not comfortable.

Carey's level of performance again this season has been above the general associated with BCFC.

Under McInnes he was getting dropped for others who with respect don't look all that. Mentally it appeared to not affect him, back in and back at it.

It depends on how good O'driscoll thinks Carey is and how he replaces or improves what he has. I rate Carey highly and others in the squad are not of the same standard along with loans. People are saying city need x y z while 14 million gets lost. well for a reduced wage Carey is pretty bloody good as a squad player for another twelve months.

That maybe OK in Div One but not if we stay in the Championship. But then unless we get some quality CB's in now we won't be in the Championship!
There isn't any room in football for sentimentality for long serving players.

Nothing to do with sentimentality for long serving players. Carey is better than what we have and what has been brought in on a lot lot more money. Showed season upon season he cuts it at this level and now with an ageing body as a squad player can still can come into the team and put in qulality performances.

City are not in the bottom three because of louis carey it is because of crap management spunking millions on players wages and fees in wrong positions and paying more for players who are not as good. Nothing to doubt with louis comes in does the job with pride, bit of skill for a centre half and wont shirk and hide. worth another twelve months.

Bottom line is Carey is the best centre half by a country mile, unless the club can bring in better then louis is the first name on the team sheet.

If the previous gaffer had played louis the record would have been broken long ago,for the record he should have been playing long ago,not because SOD THINKS HE IS THE BEST AVALIABLE.

Without a shadow of doubt...Louis Carey should be kept on for another season, he's as good as ever...I say, let Louis decide when it's time to go, he will know when his times up, the man deserves that right for is wonderful service to our club.

    What a puzzling topic.

Replace one of the best performing squad players for somebody else.

    Who?

    One, two, three?

    Transfer fees?

    Wages?

Carey is like one of those remote controlled cars. Tell it what to do and it does it. Head that, kick that, follow that, go forwards - backwards ... A TRUSTY old toy v all these others that keep getting chucked in the bin.
