Louis a great teacher - Campbell Striker recounts United experience. Fraizer Campbell knows from first-hand experience just how much of an impact new signing Louis Saha can have on young strikers. Campbell was a budding star at Manchester United when Saha was leading the line at Old Trafford following a £13m move from Fulham. The Frenchman won two Premier League crowns and a Champions League title while in the north west and passed on a wealth of experience to the clubâs younger forwards, including Campbell. Now the pair have been reunited on Wearside as Saha looks to pass on his tips and tricks to a new generation of players such as the likes of Connor Wickham and Ji Dong-won. âWhen you see a big name like Louis coming in to the club it raises everyone's confidence,â Campbell said. âHe's an experienced player; he can pass on his experience to some of the younger strikers and younger players in the squad. âAt Manchester United when we used to train together he used to tell me what I should and shouldn't be doing and he's been doing the same here. âIt's what I prefer, having someone like that to learn from and I'm sure Connor and Ji will do too.â Saha is closing in on almost 500 career appearances since starting out across the English Channel with FC Metz. He has netted 159 goals in total and made his Sunderland debut as a second-half substitute during last weekendâs 0-0 draw with Arsenal. âSometimes in training you'll do something well, which maybe a defender might not see that you've done, but a fellow striker will appreciate and tell you well done,â Campbell explained. âHe just tells you little things just to keep your brain ticking and to keep you fresh. âHe doesn't pull you to one side, he'll just tell you on the training field. But that's just part of who he is. He's a great professional and a great player as well. âWhen I was at United all the experienced players were great, but he was one of the ones who took a lot of time out to help some of the youngsters.â
Its a no lose deal for us for 12 months and a nice last earner for him. If he gets double figures in goals we will be quids in imo for what he is obviously worth in the dressing room as well.
just hope he can get Campbell to something like his form before the injuries, and Louis has had plenty of them so a good teacher,
