    Hey guys,

My Uni's American Football team have a game tomorrow vs the Birmingham Lions, and it's being streamed on GridironTV, which is a British American Football site. Just wanted to nudge you guys in the direction of it. 12pm tomorrow, two of the biggest teams in the country playing.

    Cheers guys!

Couldn't catch much because I couldn't get the stream working very well. Saw the first play go all the way to the house :p

    What was the final score?

    This thread jogged my memory.

Is anyone on here old enough to remember the leagues from the eighties?

London Ravens were the top dogs. I lived in Bognor back then, my team was the South Coast Sharks.

The Portsmouth Warriors were pretty good too, I can't remember the name of the Southampton side.

Ended 28-19 to Birmingham. The refs were shocking though.

I wasn't around much in the 80's (overseas) but vaguely remember seeing the Rotherham Redskins once. Might have just been a local league but it got me hooked. Played at Uni then for the Staffordshire Stallions. I've heard nothing really of the UK league now. The websites are pretty poor too. Don't give out much info.

You could try Double Coverage, that seems to be the big football site in this part of the world.

I'm hoping to go to Birmingham uni next year.... If I do, I might have to see if I can get in their American Football team!

Though the course description basically says due to the work load if you're thinking of doing sport, forget it...!

What position would you try out for, PL?

Probably a running back as I feel it's the position that best fits my agility and fleet-footed-ness (is that a word?). Playing as a quarter back would be cool, but I've never even held an american football ball so I dunno if I'd be good at throwing.

Well, I got an offer for Bham! Their American Football team seems to have a fair number of trophies.

Well, they're probably the best team in the country. So if you want to play for them at all, you had better be good...

Well... I've never played before so.... In theory I could be! Until I know for definite that I'm not, I'll have to assume that I'm brilliant :p

Yeah it's not really a thing for naturals to pick up straight away, there's quite a learning curve especially if you've never played contact sport before.

Oh, I don't have time to play, so I just support. Amazing number of people there, like 3000 odd people easily. The Lions won 23 nil. For some reason they went for a two-point conversion a couple of times.

Probably for practice, better to get a couple of live reps on the tactics before it's the end of the season and you need a win to go to the post season.

True. The Hertford quarter back wasn't very accurate. Kept going for the Hollywood style long range passes. Sometimes you gotta keep it simple........
