Its been thrown around in recent days. United are losing their identity. Apparently this is because we sold welbeck to arsenal... Unsure as to why. So, this notion of us losing what makes us, united. What have we lost? In the same week as losing welbeck and splashing the cash we also happened to bring in a youngster. Not only that but more youngsters have featured for united this season than in years before. Weve suffered an injury crisis yet put our trust in youth first. No other club can compare on this front. I dont know off hand how many games clev and welbeck played but i would like to think theymhave played more than any other acadamy graduates from their generation. Our signings are all intended to be used in a fast counter attack side, something united wrote the book on. We have english players throughout our side. Still one of the highest of our rivals yet weve shipped 5 hg players out.... What we have done is modernised. Its that or get left behind. We all know what happened to last side left behind, way back in the 90s. That team couldnt keep its identity and modernise so it failed.
I agree with what your saying about losing the identity it was just silly media talk. Daft dig at the end though we didn't modernise but we certainly have not lost our identity and by throwing that in there your jumping on the silly bandwagon that you are complaining about.
Agreed, the only thing you've lost recently is that ability to sit on your high horse regarding other clubs sacking managers, buying players for inflated prices etc. With 4 different managers in 18 months and 200 million spent in 8 months, United are now just another club
Something has to sell newspapers, we can't have the truth every day you know. Add to that, most of the newspapers either support the Arse or the dippers, so any excuse to have a swipe at Britains most successful and richest side will always sell papers
I think theres a belief that because liverpool did it, united will. Its daft to compare. The united of today is a much bigger entity than liverpool of the late 80s and early 90s. The game is different. Its a case of adapting. Weve done so many times innrecent years and come out on top. This is the biggest yet.
You have a point and I agree that it is different but I wouldn't be so sure, it is possible that you could have a few bad years and it is again possible that those years turn into many. At this point you have the money and status but lets say the current crop doesn't work out and you end up 5th or 6th again and with RVP getting on Falcao maybe going to Real at the end of his loan etc, etc Do you then have the same money to spend again? I'd say that it wont be handed over again and then with a 2nd year out you're less of an draw for the top players. All speculation of course but imo you needed to find and I'm just using an example here a Sturridge and a Coutinho players who could have transformed your side at a reasonable price and then added talent to that but again talent that is 25/26 tops so that you get your monies worth. Of course Blind and Rojo fall into that category but I have my doubts over Shaw and Di Maria but time will tell, going to be fun finding out.
Di maria will be poty this season. Hes that good and right now hes in the best form im world football (brought from last season).
