QPR are set to rush through the permanent £3.2m signing of Samba Diakité after clubs were alerted last night to a possible loophole in his loan deal with Hoops.

The defensive midfielder was signed in January from AS Nancy on a six-month loan that expires June 30.

Back in France it is understood one of the clauses that triggered an automatic €4million (£3.2m) transfer was a minimum number of games for Rs believed to be 10.

The man who plays internationally for Mali made only nine appearances in a Rangers shirt after a virus cut short his season.

Diakité has made plain his desire to join QPR rather than a switch to Marseille or Lyon when he was made available by Nancy.

But those working on his behalf are set to test the water with other Premier League clubs following the player’s impressive start in west London.

A source close to Nancy said: “The club are happy to sell Diakité to QPR for the agreed amount. Nancy is not a club who can afford to turn down a big money offer. But of course he may be desirable to other clubs as well, and the deal has yet to be ratified.”

Why couldn't we have brought him on for 5 seconds vs C*elsea? Would have been so much easier

Surely his suspension for being sent off (thoroughly deserved) should be taken into account.

If we let Diakite slip through our fingers it will be unforgiveable.

it's gone very quiet about taiwo too. I'm more than a little worried we're gonna lose both of them.

This - if Nancy are getting tempted by higher offers. Fact is he would've played up to 15 games (I think) if we'd had our way.

I think Nancy is not the problem - the statement from them is they are happy to complete the deal. The 10 game minimum was to protect us - if he turned out to be pony we would have a get out clause. The problem, if there is one, is his agent. If Diakite wants to stay with us, as he is reported as saying, he may have to ignore his agents advice. One thing is clear - he will want a club with a big French speaking contingent - which puts us and Arsenal in the box seat, or Newcastle if he's happy to go out of town.

it's looking we won't sign him or taiwo. it's alleged that taiwo wants to stay in Milan. don't take this as gospel. it was on twitter.

That's the exact opposite of what Taiwo has said in interviews - saying both that he wants to stay in the Prem, preferably with us, and that he was unhappy in Milan. And frankly I don't think he is quite good enough for them - they are used to Maldini.
