we may have turned the chance of Mata down last summer.

“Manchester United made it clear in the summer that they don’t swap or sell players to their direct rivals,” Mourinho said as quoted by The Times. “They were very clear in the way they approached the Rooney situation. For them, it’s pretty clear. They don’t swap. They don’t sell.”

Maybe we could just buy him this year.

It is unlikely Chelsea will United mata. They will sell to a non-premiership club.

Rooney is a much better player anyways, so no point trading

I was thinking more along the lines of it showing Mata was (and possibly is) available

I think most chelsea fans know mata is avaliable. Will be sad to see him go, but he just doesn't work in the system we're trying to play.

I am not sure you are playing any particular system at the moment, Jose seems to change it quite a blt. I am sure he will get a good number of games in the second half of the season as games increase and players get injured or start to fade, it seems such a waste to have him on the bench.

We play a high pressing/counter attack game and frankly, mata is a rubbish presser and slows down our attacks on the counter. He's still useful when we're facing the mid table teams as we're controlling the tempo, but when we face the better teams, he'll probably won't be a starter.

Yeah, not a pressing player i will give you that , but he is a player who makes a difference in tight games where a team is in full defensive mode, he can play the clever one-two or decisive pass to creat a goal or even do it on his own.

Yep, i agree with that. But would mata accept being a squad player?

Random fact: He also said in a interview last year that he couldn't play in a city he doesn't find interesting... guess that rules out united <whistle>
