We should get the point we need away at Basel. Can't see us winning the group though

Don't think we can win the group now, unless Galuti ambush Benfica. They have the superior head to head record based on away goals, so if we're level on points they get top spot even if we have a massively superior goal difference. Knowing that, we'll probably go and beat Basel 15-0 in the last game, and still finish second!

FFS no chance of that, 15-1 looks more likely

Well a 3-0 win for us against a 1-0 win for Benfica would swing us back into first. Unless the head to heads take precedent over the goal difference?

I wouldn't mind a tie against Real though. Wouldn't mind avoiding Barca and Bayern at this stage however.

We should still qualify even if that means finishing 2nd. Just hope we don't get Madrid or Barcelona.

Look at reals group. Ajax, lyon > Benfica & Basel. They have won every game and conceded two goals. We have only managed to beat Galati. I would be less confident about that potential draw.

This is all hypothetical of course. Dont underestimate our ability to **** it up against Basel.

If we want to win the thing we'll have to meet one of them sooner or later - might even be better over two legs than a one off final.

LOL Real will absolutely smash us mate!!! In fact there are a few teams that will destroy us thi year, if we do qualify I do not expect us to get through to the semi's

We could maybe beat APOEL if they top their group, Inter would probably be a close game. Otherwise its last 16 exit let alone semis.

Calm down dear! It wasn't because of bad players that we didn't win tonight. It was just slopiness.

Why not look at the positives, i.e. how good we looked when Carrick took the game by the scruff of the neck, our creativity as a result even without Rooney, Anderson, Cleverley or Hernandez on the pitch.

Granted we are making a meal of the group but this isn't indicative to how good or bad we are. At least in my opinion anyway.

Let's get past Basle first - we can worry about the knockouts if our form is dodgy in February.

Why? I'd say our defence has been looking better in the last few weeks.

If we do slip up in Basle there's always an all-Manchester final in Bucharest to look forward to!!

Plus, that's pretty much the only trophy SAF hasn't won.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to win it, might seem more like a disgrace. XD
