Bottom of the page with us settling his previous clubs debt. http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/10458000.McCormack_to_be_unveiled_by_Brentford/ The defender is in line to complete his £350,000 move to newly relegated Bristol City this week, with the deal expected to include the Ashton Gate side settling the sell-on due to Flint’s former club Alfreton, as well as a 20 per cent sell-on clause for Town.
So alfreton have a 20% sell on clause which we have to pay for, Swidon will get a 20% sell on clause when he signs. So if we decide to sell him in the future we will only receive 70% of the fee! He better be bloody good after all the hassle the club have gone through to get him!
I've seen comments from swindon fans saying he's good with his head but poor with his feet, sounds familiar And they alot of them seem to think it's a stepdown iswell
Got another bad feeling about this one and why are we going above and beyond for a player that might not cut the mustard?
Whether it be £400k or £500k it's peanuts these days. And remember Fonts was going not so long ago to Southampton for £800k. I can't believe that Flint is worse than either of Fonts or Tangle.
I want us to get him just hope we're not being mugged off in the process. Of course if he comes here does great becomes a fan favourite and we win promotion we'll be laughing at 420k. Lets hope that will be the case!
If this is going to happen, let's not become negative before we've even signed the guy. If he is signed by Bristol City, then that means that Keith Burt and Sean O'Driscoll want him to be a City player and that in their opinion, he will do a good job for us. While I don't believe that SO'D is the nearest thing to God, we must trust him to recruit players that he believes will do a good job for us. And isn't it normal for a 6ft 4 inch centre back to be stronger in the air than nimble on the floor? And haven't we been screaming out for such a centre half since McCombe left us? So if it happens, I for one, will be pleased.
I suppose we will only know if it was the right decision when he steps out on to the pitch. Let's hope he proves himself and becomes a favourite at Ashton Gate. Now we need to shift some out and build on the blocks that will be staying. Proof is in the pudding and so on.
I said before I was worried Swindle were going to take us for a ride over this but lets hope he can cut the mustard.
How does your math's work 70%? We pay £350k plus 70k to Afrington (what ever they are called) Then sell him in the future we pay 20% to Swindle if we sell leaves 80%.
When you look at Fontaine and Nyatangle who are good at neither. It has to be a step in the right direction
because rod. Alfretons 20% sell on clause which they have now will be halved to 10% once we buy him . For example say we sale him for 1 million Alfretons will get 100k (10%) Swindon 200k (20%) then we get 700k (70%). They don't lose there sell on clause after 1 sale
A sell on clause that continues every time the player is sold after he leaves the original club and the club that bought him under the first "sell on " deal? I don't think so. You cannot expect a club that was not involved in the original transaction between Alfreton and Swindon to have any legally binding reason for continuing to pay a slice to Alfreton. It would not stand up in court.
It depends on how the clause was written in the first place it might be 20% of the sell on price or 20% of the profit the second is the most usual as most clubs who sign players are not going to want a white elephant that they almost can't sell because they would get next to nowt for. Suppose you sign a player for £1M and there is a sell on clause 30% clause he proves to be useless and you can only sell him for 100,000 you would only get 70,000 for him If however it was a clause on the profit you would get the full 100K. Otherwise you could get into a situation where a player has so many sell on clauses if you sold him you would get nothing just all the clubs that had sold him in the past. Non league clubs have been known to sell players on to lower league clubs for very small fees but with large sell on clauses related to the profits made on the future transfers not the transfer fees themselves. There was a case in Yorkshire I think it was a nonleague club sold a player on to a L2 side for 5K because the L2 club were almost broke, but with a whopping 50% of Profit sell on clause, end of that season the player was sold for around 250K both clubs were very happy with the resulting payouts.
