http://www.thisisplymouth.co.uk/Brent-outlines-vision-future-Argyle/story-13371129-detail/story.html Ok so James Brent is definitely looking like he means business, but this to me sounds as though he has earmarked Ridsdale as the Chairman. Now I know beggars can't be choosers and James Brent is an extremely astute businessman but Ridsdale is an expert at what he does and if he is overseeing the club on James Brent's behalf, do you see Ridsdale going along with just keeping the club afloat? Keeping on a sound financial footing? Making sure the club lives within it's means? Because forget any talk of climbing quickly back up the Leagues and becoming a successful club again any time soon. The **** we are currently in will take some undoing, and I don't think we will be in a position to think about making back to the Championship for a good few years yet. We're going to have to be extremely prudent and build slowly but carefully. Doesn't fit in with Ridsdale's previous CV and I just hope that James Brent is strong enough and clever enough to keep Ridsdale in check!
Hmmmmmm - for every positive there is a negative. As the man said: You can fool some of the people some of the time but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time. Unfortunately for you, Ridsdale thinks he CAN
I think this was inevitable. Still as you say Jock - Hopefully Brent will be able to keep him in his place.
I think in the short term it would be rather difficult to off-load Peter Ridsdale at this stage. He is the one that has been doing all the club admin for this season and put in place the structure that will help PAFC to continue after administration finally finishes. If James Brent continues with Ridsdale on a short contract......say until the end of the season..........we will soon find out if Ridsdale wiil play with someone elses toys or not. If he wants all the toys for himself only........then I think you will see him go off to more lucrative pastures.
Spot on Plym Due to the time wasted through the off season to bring someone new in at this stage would be extemely difficult. I´m hoping Mr Brent is as astute as most think and will be looking at this as the best way to minimse impact of a new deal and a time to assess Risdale and their compatability. At least Gat will be able to stop worrying that her little Rissy might be leaving.....not.
