Throughout the season Bucks has given us very good reviews of the matches, and I'm interested in this one. Here's my thoughts. Only a clown would play Ramires and Lampard together in midfield. Neither can run a match, and so it proved. Subsequently our play was stilted, disjointed and very patchy. With JT. Lamps and Ashley Cole all playing, we saw way too much of the ball going sideways and backwards, often back to Cech. Villa were far quicker and direct. Mata was out on his feet after 30 mins, as was Hazard. Moses just doesn't have the quality or experience yet, can't decide which. Ba was disappointing. That said, every chance any of them had they had to make themselves cause nothing came from midfield. JT looked like he needed game time and Cahill continues in poor form. Ramires is one crazy, reckless liability sometimes, and sure was today. He could easily have cost us the match. Coco should have binned him soon as he got the yellow, and brought on Luiz. When Luiz did come on, the play went up a notch or 3 and we got some balance and fluidity. Shows just how much we really need a midfield general. Lampard came into the picture in extraordinary fashion, because he could now play his natural game. Enough said here about our record holder, just a fabulous Chelsea Legend. Fantastic effort, bravery and sheer determination then got our knackered players home. In the end a mighty effort despite Coco putting out an unbalanced team AGAIN. Thank the Lord he's only got a couple of games left. We won despite him, not because of him.
Yeap. We, basically reverted to a pattern of play we had in the darker Jan-Feb months. As soon as I saw we were doing that I knew we were in for a tough afternoon. I think we were very lucky for it to be brought back to 10v10, but hey, at least we managed to capitalise on that luck.
