Mick and his assistant Terry Connor were at the WHCS the other night possibly looking at Anthony Wordsworth? He's too good for that level and he would make a great replacement for Lee Martin. A host of championship clubs have shown an interest in Wordsworth and I definately think he would be worth a punt in January. http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/21914/town-bosses-at-colchester
I'm pretty sure I was in the same youth team at Colchester United as him when I was at their academy. Also coincidentally managed by current 1st team boss Joe Dunne. From what I remember of the lad (as he was then) was he was technically very good, was pretty mobile and comfortable on the ball. I imagine that he has progressed leaps and bounds since then (whilst I've gone the other way ) He seems to be the perfect age, plus he's based down the road so would be a smooth transition to join us, apparently they have a few decent players that the Gaffer was running the rule over so hopefully come January we'll have some new blood in the team
It seems to me that Anthony Wordsworth definately ticks all the boxes in the type of player we need. He is young, talented and will want to prove himself higher up the leagues. I have watched him a couple of times and have been impressed with what I have seen and I'm pretty sure Mick would have been. He has an eye for spotting unknown young players like Matt Jarvis, Keogh, Ebanks-Blake etc.
The rumour doing the rounds is that Charlton have already approached Col U with an offer which they have accepted and the transfer will go through in the first couple of days in January... Looks like we may have missed the boat on this, but I imagine we won't be the only club looking at him so I can't imagine Col U accepting an offer before a bidding war ensues
