I've been musing over the form of the clubs around us - in a league where 'everybody can beat everybody ele on their day' - usually espoused by a manager near the top as his team is thrashed by som, eone near th bottom.
Anyway, excluding carduff, and ignoring every other possibility likely to blow teams off course, it seems that the golden boys are the form team of the top 6. By ignoring the first 10 games of the season, we have the following stats...
    Average points per game
    WFC 1.95
    Hull 1.94
    Middleboro 1.79
    leicester 1.68
    Palarse 1.63

Ok - so what. It get more interesting (well - to me anyway).
If we look at the number of points gained by each club in the previous 10 games, starting from game 11, up to present games,(e.g games 11 to 20, games 12 to 21 etc) then WFC have grown steadly stronger as the season has progressed and are (impressively) around 20 points per 10 games since game 14. Our rolling 10 game haul from game 14 onwards is 21,21,20,20,20,22,19,19.

    Hull aren't far behind, with 17-19. 1919,17,20,19,18,18,18.
Middlesboro were good, but are falling off a cliff 19,16,16,18,18,15,12,9 .
Leicester are hovering around 12-14, though just up to 17 now, 12,12,12,14,14,14,17,17. Our biggest threat.
Palarse are at 8-13 at 16,13,11,11,11,11,8,10

There's a long way to go blah blah blah, anyhting could happen, but it cheers me up no end to see the trends.

i love this! thank you...that's really made me smile. We are definitely strong and yes, anything can happen, but if we keep up this form, we are definitely a strong contender! Happy days..

and good to see someone new posting! Thank you for that too :)

Our fly in the ointment is GFZ. He must stop changing the team when we play teams near the bottom of the league.

Well of course GFZ may HAVE to change the team - injuries in particular.
I assume we are all fearful of Matej getting walloped - so far he's been quicker than the cloggers. However, it might not be too bad.
Looking at our closest rivals, and their goalscoring machines, it also reveals ( I think) that Leicester are our biggest threat.
I've looked at each clubs top scorer, next top, and total goals scored.
    The differences are weird.
Palarse have Murray with 24, then dikgacoi & Moritz with 5 each. No wonder they've brought in Phillips & Dobbie. (both of whom worry me quite a lot actually). In the face of it, if murray isn't available, they can plan for div 1 ! (not seriously).
Hull's top scorer is aluko (who?) with 8 followed by Koren with 7. how can you tell if the top scorer is playing in that team. Spells resilience to be so far up the table with that strike force.
Leicester have Wood with 16, but also Nugent with 14 (now he's not an interantional any more, and has stopped performing only in front of the cameras, he's become mighty effective again). They could lose either of them and still be going well.
Middlesboro have Mcdonald with 10, and Jutkiewicz with 9.
We have Matej with 19 and Troy with 12. Other than Leicester, our 2nd top scorer has more than any other 2nd top scorer.
Now, if we remove each teams top scorer, then we have still scored MORE goals than any other of them
    (WFC 39, boro 37, Leicester 35,Hull 32, Palarse 28).
Even removing both top scorers we have scored more than all others (except bizarrely boro).
I realise that this is a trifle unreal - when Troy & Matej aren't playing we seem to create less chances, so perhaps the goals scored by the rest are connected.

PS to the stats in my other post. The average of the rolling 10 games figures are...
    WFC 20.25
    Hull 18.5
    Boro 15.3
    Leicester 14
    Palarse 11.3

BTW I'm only doing all this because I live in Cheshire, and only get to about 8-10 games a season, so I have to do something to keep the dreams alive !

However, my final stat is so conclusive that promotion is a stone cold certainty.
I've seen the golden boys 5 times this season 3 wins 1 draw and 1 loss. That's 10 points from 5 games - which is promotion form !
