49 is the estimate to be safe isn't it? So that is 12 points to get. Our points per game rate is around 1.09 so we are heading in the right direction. Factor in certain teams and admin, admittedly Portsmouth and Coventry are positives and negatives for us.

We still have a very fragmented team, it could all be down to Porter, but the way we played agaisnt Tranmere has got to give us hope!!

I was very pleased we got Porter (nine months too late, some might say) as he provides a solid presence in the box and Marvin can play off him and create chances. We now need to put together a few wins at home (four points from the last five home games is relegation form) starting with Stevenage as Doncaster looks a tough one (though if Preston can beat Bournemouth we must have a chance). I am a lot more optimistic now we have signed one striker but another striker or a left winger would be nice.

I think we'll be fine. I've said it all year and stick by it, although Hartlepool are beginning to look like they might stay up! We're gelling nicely together now, and I reckon, should we retain the services of key players (and manager!) then we'll be looking at improving a lot for next year, and possibly even play-offs. I wouldn't expect anything above top 10 next season at all, but I think that Turner should be given a 3 year deal this summer with the remit of challenging for the top 6 by the end of it, should we stay up.

funny how peoples ideals change after a back to back win, the whole board seem's a much brighter place now, their is no doubt if Porter can stick a few in we might just pull away from the death zone, but as for playing along with Morgan its a no go, Morgan just isn't good enough! plus most importantly we must keep this level of commitment up, also i think we are still carrying a lot of dead wood and Porters only here for a Month initially remember, the imbalance between loan players and poor signed players is still very evident...and Luke Rodgers needs to get his ass in gear quickly!!

    Tinned Hats,
I think Marvin works hard for the team and can create chances but has not had much support from other frontmen this year - lets hope he can strike up a partnership with Porter. We have had back to back away wins but not back to back wins yet this season though Saturday would be a good place to start. I agree with you about the squad - it is unbalanced with a significant number of players who are not good enough to make a decent contribution in League 1. The summer will be very interesting but I wish GT would make his intentions clear now - is he staying as manager or becoming a Director of Football? I think it would be nice to see a young first team manager working with him.

The trouble with lower league footballers is that they often have limitations in their range of skills. Either they are exceptional in some things and not others or they are okay in many. Ainsworth for ezampke was an exceptional winger but he had many weaknesses in terms of attitude. Morgan us exceptional at worrying a defense but woefully inaccurate.

ok knock stevo, donny and walsall off the list, how is the run in looking. we need to beat oldham, colchester carlisle and pompey, then we can all help roland spend a small amount, say 600k on new permanent players. i suspect there could be a clearout in may to makeway for our new loanees!

Atcham you perspicacious old supporter you!!! How could you think such a thing!

Perhaps we could have an offshoot of the betting league on the clearout, the 'changees' and the number of loanees on the starting day next season. There could be points for each right call and you know what point mean ......and a pint of Otter for the winner. :emoticon-0110-tongu:emoticon-0110-tongu:emoticon-0110-tongu

.....and Otter Bright for the close season when we think of cricket not our beloved footy; in those balmy Salopian evenings.

My local in Duffield (just north of Derby) will have Otter ale as guest ale in a couple of weeks; I have offered to help them empty the barrel!
