REF WATCH - CLATTENBURG IN CHARGE Posted on: Tue 17 Apr 2012 Durham-born referee Mark Clattenburg will take charge of this weekend's clash, when the R's take on North London outfit Tottenham Hotspur at Loftus Road. Saturday's appointment will be his fourth Rangers outing this term, as Clattenburg last took charge of the R's during our February home defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers. During that encounter against Wolves, Clattenburg sent off R's striker Djibril Cisse after a coming together with Roger Johnson. His original interest in refereeing began in 1990, when Clattenburg was completing his Duke of Edinburgh Award. Article continues Advertisement Soon after, he became a referee assistant in the Northern League at just 18 years old, later taking up a more central role in the same league. In 1999, Clattenburg was appointed both a Football Conference referee and a Football League assistant, before being added to the National List of Football League referees the following year. The 37 year-old slowly progressed up the ranks, officiating Division One and Two Play-Off semi-finals for a number of years before becoming a Select Group referee in the Premier League in 2004. Clattenburg, a qualified electrician, was appointed as a FIFA referee in 2006. Although, in 2009, Clattenburg was dismissed by the referees' governing body for allegations into his personal life. However, after an eight-month suspension, he returned back to the game. He has officiated qualifying games for Euro 2008 and 2012. S Beck and S Child will be Clattenburg's assistants on Saturday evening. L Mason, who took charge of our recent trip to Old Trafford, will be the fourth official at W12. Can't believe he agreed to that... the FA's form of punishment?! Hope we give him an earful...
Spurs fans don't like him either. He's the guy that didn't give the Pedro Mendes goal and the same ref that let Nani's goal against them last season stand.
With the amount of red cards we have accumulated this year it was inevitable that one of those refs would be back again. When he took charge of our games last season he was brilliant and he's definetely one of the better ones in the top flight imo. Should be fun with Mason at LR though, he'll get a right earfull for sure.
I think Clattenburg is bloody awful...in fact, nearly all of em are!! The single most annoying thing in football for me - the crap referring we have to endure. I have to say that I believe Mr Webb is the only decent ref working in english football at the moment. As for that kid that thinks he's a ref...dont get me started (doing my best impression of mutley right now).
Clattenburg's a huge Newcastle fan. Hopefully he'll ( a-hem ) be nice to us in order for Newcastle to have the best chance of securing the fourth CL place.
It might be true that confidence in refereeing might be at an all time low, and CLATTENBURG has made his mistakes in the past (Mainly Merside derby) but he comes highly recommended by Niel Warnock, who thought he handled the QPR v Forest game "absolutely fantastic", during the February 2011 season. I have watched CLATTENBURG in numerous matches recently, and it's my view that you could have no better a referee for your Spurs game, he has developed well over his earlier career failings, and I see him maturing into a top quality referee, his handling of the Cup game between Cardiff and Liverpool was excellent, so I don't see any issue with CLATTENBURG!...............
I think he is a good ref actually one of the best you can't blame him for sending off Cisse for being a complete knob, Cisse gave him zero choice!
Clattenburg shouldn't be allowed to take charge of Spurs games. That should tell you how I feel about him and I'm sure that many Spurs fans feel the same way.

OFFICIAL CHANGE Posted on: Wed 18 Apr 2012 Lee Mason has been replaced as the fourth official for Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Loftus Road. Lee Probert has been named as his replacement. Mark Clattenburg will referee the fixture. S Beck and S Child will be his assistants. What an absolute tool!
I chose my profile name because of Graham Poll. Far too familiar with the players and it told in his decision making. Foy's screwed us over badly this season, too.
Agree. Poll hasn't hid his hatred for us even upon retirement. Foy is just inept but to be fair the worst decision in that match was the offside goal that was chalked out and that wasn't his fault but he is a very poor ref and I hope he never refs a Chelsea game again. It happened to Clattenburg who went 5 years without reffing an Everton game after his performance when they played Liverpool in 2007
