Am amazed to see that there isn’t a single UK entry in this race given the money on offer, the Group 1 status and the fact that the other entries aren’t exactly world beaters. If I owned a decent stayer, trained in this land, I’d certainly be asking some questions of my trainer right now.

Would love to see my old fave Kasbah Bliss win this. But he has been beaten in this heat 3 times in the past.

Sir Barney, there were seven British horses plus Fame And Glory in the original entry, but I think that the allure of a big pot in the stayers’ race on Champions’ Day has tempted most of them to stay at home.

In the Prix Gladiateur on Arc Trails Day, Ley Hunter beat Shamanova and the race may well end up being run in a similar fashion thanks to the absence of any obvious pace. The Aga Khan’s filly was favourite that day but nobody would have got done under our new whip rules so there is every chance that she will reverse form with Godolphin France’s contender.

Kasbah Bliss is not getting any better at nine. They’ve retired him from racing over obstacles. They might be advised to just retire him altogether.

OddDog, they should stick Big Bucks in at Ascot as it is probably worth more money!

Shamanova is entered to run on Saturday in the Group 2 Prix De Royallieu, where she faces just three opponents.

The following have dropped out at the second forfeit stage: Tac De Boistron and Shamanova.

No supplementary entries were added so ten remain for Friday’s final declarations.
