To West Brom? http://www.joe.ie/football/football...o-join-west-brom-later-today-report-0014742-1 FFS this is pissing me off now.
At the minute they are the only people running with the story and along with a few other newspaper. We need to wait until someone more credible says something. When they accepted our bid for Matt Mills they put that on their website so I think they would do the same for Shane Long
http://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/f...er_on_the_verge_of_6million_move_to_west_brom Shane Long is away on internationals so i dont think anyone will sign him at the minute but who knows Still all just rumours. Rumours came out that Matt Mills was signing for Wolves yet we still signed him.
It's so frustrating but we are going to have so much competition for players like Long, Maynard, Carew, etc
I think if Reading had the chance to sell to a PL club they'd take it without thinking because the last thing they want to do is sell to us. Mentioned in another thread that I think Sven could look at loaning someone from a Premeir League club - Robbie Keane was the first name that came to mind.
The difference with Maynard and Long is Prem club actually want Shane Long so its going to be hard to get him while no Prem club are going after Maynard as they dont want to gamble 5M on a injury prone striker. If West Ham compete with us over Maynard we can blow them out the water on wages and transfer fees aswell but with Shane Long he might want prem football
That's a blessing in disguise if he does sign for them, 7 mill for someone who's scored 44 league goals in 5 season is ****ing insane!! Makes Akinbadbuy's record look like Pele's!!
Shane Long has had 1 great season and the rest decent but not great. For some of them season's he was playing behind Kevin Doyle, Dave Kitson, Noel Hunt, Leroy Lita so it would of been hard for him as he was only young at the time
He wasn't decent before last season, he was rubbish!! Even if you forget about the first 3 seasons of which two were in the PL, the last two he managed 15 goals in 70 games, sorry but that's not decent, it's ****e and certainly doesn't warrant 7 mill. I hope he signs for West Brom and we spend the money on someone is worthy of the price tag!! Does everyone remember that Heskey scored 22 goals for Liverpool one season and he never did it again? From what i've seen of Long he isn't good enough to repeat last season, I may be proven wrong but I don't think we should be gambling with that kind of money!!
Fourth Official seems to think that he is waiting for a PL move rather than switching to another Championship cplub, and that WBA are indeed interested. Whether WBA have £7m+ when there initial bid was just £3m remains to be seen. I still think we have a chance with this one.
Fourth Official has said that West Brom have had a bid accepted for Shane Long of 6M. He also we made a bigger bid which is still on the table
Fourth_Official Fourth Official Look's like Reading have accepted a £6m bid from West Brom for Shane Long, Leicester's bid was more! #WBA Absolute pisstake. Would prefer Maynard anyway to be honest, Nugent to hold it up and Maynard to score would be crackalacking
I agree, plus Long took something like 7 penalties last season and scored 21 goals. Nugent scored 14 goals (from the wing) and took no penalties I don't think he is everything he is made out to be I would much rather save 2m and go for Maynard who can create a goal out of nothing.
We should offer Reading £1million + Martyn Waghorn for Jimmy Kebe, or rise to £2.5million + Martyn Waghorn if rejected. We should also offer £3 million for Maynard, then £4 million if rejected, then £3.5 million non-negiotable. Why must we pay out more than worth?
Offer 5M for Maynard and if they reject it offer 5M again. We should keep offering 5M until they get bored of rejecting them and accept it. We will bore them into submission
