http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/21662/jewell-long-term-approach-not-abandoned There's some Jewell classics in this, I particularly liked, " To go long-term sometimes, youâve got to go short-term..." Does he honestly believe any of this himself, let alone think any of us believe it?
Although I dont like it part of what he said made sense. We screwed up our signings in the summer and now outside of the window we have to rely on short term options. I cant see that we need so many loans but 3 or 4 were definately required after our earlier failings. We couldnt live with only 2 central defenders and I can understand, although dont like Murphy for example. The bigger question is WHY we found it so hard to compete in the summer and WHY we need so many loanees now. We have 500 options for midfield for no obvious reason. Surely if what he was saying was true though all of our loanees would be Moshni like, ie young with a view to a long term deal or like Higginbottam with no future at this current club. Wellens, Henderson, Luongo have no future here so we dont need them. NRC although not a loan is only here til the January window when I assume he is looking to move to better things. Im honestly not sure whether Jewell is covering some larger issue at the club or whether he has totally lost the plot. The worrying thing is I think it may be both.
